"3.trappatoni" Pure bias. In no order, Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho, Capello & Hiddink. Hitzfeld deserves a shout. |

Okay I didn't read the question correctly, I picked the 5 best managers and then seen Goonie's comment about it being the current best. Well I just did the best managers on what they've done in my time and slightly before my time. 1 - Alex Ferguson - Unparalelled success, wins stuff nearly every year, probably had around 3 trophyless seasons in nearly 20 years. Truly outstanding record. Winning is the name of the game and nobody does it better than Fergie, he might not be the greatest tactician in the game but I suppose that just his record seem even more impressive. Who needs great tactics when you know how to build a team that wins so much. It's that simple. 2 - Fabio Capello - Had a brilliant team with Milan, won Serie A titles, European Cup/Champions League, won stuff with Juventus, Real Madrid and is on the brink of getting England to the World Cup and with a great chance of winning it. Proved in Italy, Spain and at International level. 3 - Jose Mourinho - Relatively short time in management but he has had great success in that time, won titles in Portugal, England and Italy even though the teams he took over were already capable of winning titles, his exploits in England showed h is a class manager who didn';t just turn a very good team into a great one, he turned them into a machine. 4 - Marcelo Lippi - He built probably the best team European football has seen, a team who didn't win as much as they should've on the Euroipean stage but reached a few finals and were unlucky. That Juventus team was incredible. Has also won the World Cup with Italy so is proved at International level, I placed Capello ahead of him because he has won more (I think) and he has done it in Spain as well as Italy. 5 - Arsene Wenger - Maybe Wenger hasn't won as much as the others but he has a brilliant philosophy on the game. His teams have always played exceptionally good football. Whatever about the money he spends, I find that almost irrelevant because he picks players he thinks can bring him the success and that's the fact of the matter. He chooses to grow players rather than bring already nurtured talent to the club, his man-management isn't near as good as the others ahead of him but again he takes a different approach. Instilling belief and confidence into his players that they can play football and win by playing that great football alone. He doesn't teach his players how to win matches, how to be absolute winners, he teaches them how to play great football and win with that football. It doesn't always work out but you've got to admire how he operates. |

you dont win the La Liga with Valencia twice and the Uefa Cup, win a champions league with Djimi Traore, Igor Biscan and Vladimir Smicer..Win 2 SUper Cups.. take Liverpool from being 34 points off the top spot, to 6 points off the top spot without being a top manager |
