I'm glad you all got to watch him tonight because I think it's time people came to the realisation that this bloke is a fucking top class DM and would walk into any club's first XI in the PL right now. Because I take no interest in a shit friendly between two shit teams, I genuinely thought I'd stare at De Jong all game and track his every movement. My eyes were hurting by the end of the game, the bloke just reads the game as if he's watching a replay and he tracks the opposition so well. When it comes to the tackle there aren't many better in the world, and his positioning on the pitch is second to none, constantly moving to create space and offer support to a teammate. In tonights game he used the ball well, making simple passes and allowing more creative players to get into better positions then releasing them, this is what his normal job is, but for City in pre season I've also seen him carry the ball forward and make creative and very productive passes. This next season he will start to get recognition as one of the best DM's around, top class player. |

![]() I did exactly the same to Touré when Barcelona played Spurs at Wembley, and Eto'o whenever the ACN is on. |

De Jong named the hoover for a reason, nothing gets past him. Ask Rooney how his bruises are today if you see him. |

Yeah that's class, I do it a lot if there's a player I'm more interested in than the game. Especially in a game at the stadium, so easy to track a player's every movement. Bet you got bored watching that fat shit Yaya all game

I do it all the time with Scholes and Lampard. Even in nail-biting games I paid special attention to every Paul Scholes movement, but don't get me wrong, this doesn't hinder my ability to make judgment on everything else. |

I wasn't talking about "special attention" I was pretty much talking about total devotion. When Scholes and Lampard are playing they're in a decent side so there's lots of other quality on display anyway. |

Top player, as you said, great positioning and tackling. He's got such presence and is great at marking and pressuring players too. |
