Because Ronaldo covers majority of the holes in a average United center midfield pairing

There are holes in our midfield, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes and Anderson all have weaknesses. Carrick and Scholes seemed the only really good pairing but I still fail to see how Ronaldo covered any of these holes. Ronaldo could've scored a hattrick while our midfield played shit but that wouldn't cover over the fact they were shit. The only thing I can think of is that Ronaldo was the best at controlling Carrick's strongly hit passes but then we still have Berbatov who controls them very well and that's where most of Carrick's passes went to anyways, with Scholes hitting them out wide to Ronaldo most of the time. Either way it's a strange comment. Ronaldo leaving won't make hardly any impact on Carrick's game, certainly not a significant difference or one that would make you worry more about him playing. |
