Look at Iniesta's 'Laudrup' dribble at 9 seconds... Edited by DaG, Aug 10 2009, 12:41 AM.

The passing against Madrid was by some way the best, Xavi was a little wizard in that match, loved the triangles. |

We saw some of that with Hleb-Cesc-Flamini in 2007-2008. We saw none of it last season at Arsenal because only Denilson was intelligent enough in possession and off the ball to facilitate such moves. |

DaG, I fucking love you for posting this, what a fucking team. Amazing, the goal vs Munich was out of this world, everything about it was genius. Fucking hell I'm in a really good mood now. Top man. Happy fucking days! Oh and btw, how you can still claim Messi was better than Xavi vs Madrid is beyond me

Can you pin this Scholes and rename the topic: how to play football? |

I love how Barca players don't pass for the fuck of it, they pass to players who will have options when they receive it, otherwise they keep dribbling until they find something. The movement off the ball is so brilliant. They move effectively off the ball while also keeping team shape. A deadly fucking combination, coupled with their dribbling makes them the best attack on the planet by far. |

That is what football is all about, Barcelona right there have perfected the fundamentals of football. The movement off the ball is extreme, so amazing to watch, it's made to look easy. Not just any team could do that, because we forget how hard it is to get that first touch right every time, or make sure the pass does reach its target, but that Barca side have it all right there, each player technically good enough to recognise good movement off the ball, to get a great first touch, look up then play a weighted, accurate pass. They also play the simple ball all the time, many times during that comp I saw a risky pass on, a ball that could be floated over the top or could ambitiously be splitting two defenders, but even the top passers in the world like Xavi just took their time, didn't bother making it too complicated and stayed with the simple ball and retaining possession. There's a lesson there for anybody, patience is a big part of the game. That game against Real Madrid really was something special, they were taking the piss, ruining a side like Real Madrid, a side who were unbeaten in something like 16 games and a side with enough top players in to be able to hold their own, this is why we'll all look back in 40 years time and still be talking about this Barca side, truly phenominal.

looking back on last season they deserved to win everything including the CL. No matter how bitter i still am about that match i must concede that they are the best team i have EVER seen play. simply beautiful. |
