Tottenham are targeting vulnerable Arsenal Ledley King has come out and stated not only are Tottenham serious contenders for a top four spot but that it is Arsenal who are the most vulnerable. King, the Tottenham captain accepts that Everton, Man City and Aston Villa are also in the hunt for that top four spot but is very confident that it will be Tottenham that come out on top. Referring to Arsenal King said Something has got to give. Arsenal have been pinpointed as the team that will drop out of the top four. “I am not going to shout about it - but most people say Arsenal are the vulnerable ones and I can see why. It’s up to us to show we are the ones who can take advantage.” He obviously tried to be diplomatic but it is clear from those words that it is Arsenal they are targeting and that Tottenham do have the capability of taking advantage of the perceived Arsenal vulnerability. King puts the new found confidence squarely down to Harry Redknapp saying “It seems a bit simple to say it was mainly down to the new manager restoring the confidence of the players but that is what it amounted to. “Confidence was a major issue last season. Harry restored it and the results started to turn around. As simple as though that sounds, it seemed to bring out the best in us. It shows we do have the players to compete right up there are the top. “We have been looking to push into the top four for the last few seasons. That hasn’t happened but we now have a much better chance. What Tottenham need now is to get off to a flyer against Liverpool in the first game of the season and a fully fit Ledley King participating in that game would not go amiss. o god, another season and more drivel eminating from Tottenham Hotspur FC. It just wouldn't be the same without a pre season war cry of how they are going to finally break the top 4 and blah blah. Course you are guys...course you are |

You all are so stupid. What's wrong with a team wanting 4th? Anyteam outside the big 3 would be delighted with that and i'm sure they all want it too. King is confident, what's wrong with that? He's the captain and he is expected to encourage the players for gods sake. What use would a captain be saying "we want 15th place" Get real guys. |

LOL at 'big 3' and maybe it would make more sense to aim slightly higher then last season, and that would mean aiming to get into Europe? then once you take that milestone then aim for the top 4 if you wanted to be really optimistic. the fact tottenham come out every season and make the same comments and never ever get there must get embarassing after a while. surely it would make more sense to just keep quiet and hope for the best rather then mugging off your club with silly aspirations. just my opinion though |

Last season was a cockup because of the manager, end of. Yes, of course, it is really embarassing qualifying for Europe almost ever year and not getting 4th .... . Ledley is the captain, if he is not optimistic and doesn't encourage the team and raise the player's confidence then it's pointless. You don't aim for what you know you can achieve, you aim higher, setting standards high. There's no point qualifying for Europe every year and saying, "Oh we'll just finish here again next year lads, k?" And again..and again..ITS POINTLESS. |

You misread me, i didnt say qualifying for europe every year was embarassing, i said that making statements about breaking the top 4 etc and never achiveing them can be embarassing. Fair enough it makes sense to aim high, but theres a differnece between setting targets that are achievable and those that arent. And im saying that every season Tottenham act as if they are going to break the top 4, and never do. Until these claims are backed up by actually following up and breaking the top 4, it becomes the same drivel each year. which is what i said |

Nothing wrong with that, wasn't Robinho saying City were title challengers? That's terrible considering Spurs will finish above them, pushing the top four close. |

'Same old drivel every year' Well they finished 5th twice or fifth and sixth consecutively under Jol, can't remember wqhich, but in one season they came mightily close to displacing Arsenal. Under Harry Redknapp there's nothing to suggest they can't succeed. |

yeah, same old drivel. all i ever hear from tottenham fans is next season we will finish above arsenal...been hearing it for a while now and im yet to see it happen. with man city now on the scene, the chances of it happenning are even slimmer. they came close once...and as far as im aware finishing fifth aint fourth, so from where im sitting its the same talk every season and it always amounts to nothing. so sorry if im taking this years '4th place statements' with a pinch of salt and pessimism. |

You mean like the same old drivel we get from Arsenal every year? "Oh...next year our potential will turn into trophies"... |
