Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

WAHOOO CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? WHEN I FIRST HEARD THESE RUMOURS I THOUGHT NAH THIS IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN BUT THIS SUMMER THE MOST INCREDIBLE TRANSFER DEALS HAVE HAPPENED AND NO WINDOW WILL EVER BEAT THIS ONE IT HAS BEEN ON ANOTHER SCALE.

WELCOME TO BARCELONA IBRA :worship: :worship: :worship:

Barcelona new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic swept into the Camp Nou this evening and immediately proclaimed that playing for the Catalan giants can make him an even better player.

The protracted Samuel Eto’o plus cash deal has finally been completed, and the player was presented to the media this evening, with the Swede proudly displaying the number 9 jersey he will wear next season.

Ibrahimovic beamed as he exclaimed his joy at finally sealing his switch to the European Champions, adding that he can only improve by being surrounded by the talent on show.

“To play for Barcelona is a big honour. There are many big clubs but only one special club, and for me it is Barca," he said at his first press conference with the Catalan outfit.

“I have come here to become even better, to play with [Lionel] Messi, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta, [Yaya] Toure, I know this whole team in my head – it’s a fantastic team, I know I can become even better.”

The former Juventus star also stated that he has set himself the target of improving upon the 25-goal haul he managed for Inter in Serie A last season.

He added, “Obviously I want to do better than last season. I scored 25 in the league, and was top scorer, so be sure that I want to beat that. But I will not cite a number; If you get that into your head you become desperate to score.

“I’m here to help my team-mates and they are here to help me.”

The 27-year old also made a simple guarantee for his time at the Camp Nou.

“I will promise a lot of success, a lot of joy, and for sure, good memories.”

Ibra: I can be better than Eto'o
New Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vowed to do even better than the departed Samuel Eto'o.

Ibrahimovic completed his move to the Catalan giants this evening in a 66million euros 'swap' deal which sees Eto'o travel the other way.

The Cameroon striker scored 130 goals in Barca colours and helped the side to a string of titles, including three leagues, two Champions Leagues and a Copa del Rey success, in his five seasons at the club.

But Ibrahimovic, who signed a five-year deal with the treble winners and who will wear the number nine shirt vacated by Eto'o, says he wants to do even better.

"Eto'o is part of the history book of this club and he will always be a hero here," he said at a press conference this evening.

"I have not come to replace Eto'o - I am somebody different, somebody new, but I will try to achieve as much as Eto'o did, or even more."

Barcelona revealed they had paid Inter 46million euros for Ibrahimovic with the extra 20million made up in their valuation of Eto'o.

That went most of the way to making up the 70million euros valuation Inter had placed on Ibrahimovic, with the Italians also getting winger Alexander Hleb on a year-long loan.

The Belorussian has shown some reluctance to agree to the deal, however, it may end in a permanent move with Inter having an option to buy the player for 10million euros after his loan deal expires next summer.

For his part Ibrahimovic is focused on his future at Barca and pledged to score more than 25 goals in his first season at the Nou Camp.

"I try to improve every year - last year I scored 25 goals and I was the top-scorer in Italy, so I think I will score even more than that this year; that's my aim," he said.

Ibrahimovic says playing alongside Barca's array of stars is a dream come true.

"They have so many great players; Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Toure... I know the team off by heart and I can't wait to play with them - I think playing with them will make me a better player. I'm living a dream."

And Ibrahimovic claims the only way he would have left Inter Milan was to join Barcelona.

"It's a very big thing for me," he said.

"There comes a time when you want to develop more and my desire to come to Barcelona was too big to stay at Inter."

The Swede also revealed that Inter president Massimo Moratti had given him permission to leave several months ago should an offer from Barca arrive.

"Moratti helped me in every way, he did everything for me and my family," he said.

"I said to Moratti a few months ago: 'Nobody can get me, only one club can get me and that's Barcelona', and he told me: 'if you want it like that you will get it like that'.

"So all my respect, because it is not easy to sell a player that means so much to the team."

Barca president Joan Laporta hailed Ibrahimovic's arrival.

"He is not a conformist, he is ambitious, a winner, an authentic man with strong feelings and he wanted to come to Barcelona," he said.

"(Coach) Pep (Guardiola) said that Zlatan was the ideal player for us, so we are really happy to have him here," he said.

Ibrahimovic has a fractured left hand, which was detected in today's medical, and will undergo an operation on Tuesday.

The former Juventus, Ajax and Inter striker will travel with the team to the United States, but will miss the friendly with Manchester City on August 19.

But Barca sporting director Txiki Begiristain announced that he is set to return for the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao four days later.

Begiristain added that he believed Ibrahimovic was the complete striker.

"He has great technical quality, can adapt perfectly to how we play and can hold the ball up - he is a complete player," he said.
