For that ONE season he was better. But comparing them over a career RVN is better. In the case of a striker, goal scoring statistics should be the basis of any comparison.

but RVN and drogba have never scored as many as phillips did in that 1 season thoughtout there careers in england and they have playerd at far better teams so does that mean phillips in that 1 season was better than RVN and drogba were thoughout that time in england?

stats are complete bollocks to me somebody got win 50 challenges out of 55 but then he could go and give the ball away.

for me there is so more attributes to judge a player on than stats cos stats are unfair if u put james beatie in an arsenal shirt and he would score more than adebayor would playing for stoke does that make him a better player

all im trying to say is stats are sometimes inacurate and the wrong way to judge players cos ofcourse the top 4 strikers have a better chance than the strikers at hull for instance cos they are playing with better players thats why i think it is shit judging players on stats.

also stats can mean fuckall if a player wasnt giving an 100% in every game i would want him out if the stats say he was good but u cud clearly see with your own eyes he werent performing to the best of hes ability i would still want him out.

at the min berba is better and to be honest i dont think bendtner will hit the heights what berbatov did at spurs at the peak of hes career but i still think hes got big potential

I don't really like Bedntner at all if you have followed my posts. But I would much rather have him at Arsenal than Berbatov. Younger, just as productive, better looking, has a bit of passion about him.

berbatov had a very bad season las season and if he does again then people may start to think that hes on par with bendter but if he regains the form he had at spurs then no way is bendtner even close to him

What you see with Berbatov is what you get. Big fish small pond. He doesn't have the right mentality. Bendtner for all his short comings does.

Surely a player who cost 30M would score more and assist more than a player in the same position who cost under 1M and is 7 years younger?
Berbatov was in his first season, Bendtner was in his 3rd or something.

Berbatov cost £30m because he is 27 and was bought from a PL club on deadline day. Bendtner was bought for £1m as a kid from some small club.

In any case, price is irrelevant in gauging how good a player is. How many times must I drill this in to people's heads, because Berbatov cost £30m doesn't mean he has to do more, he's in the team to do a job, as is Bendtner. If he cost £10m, £15m or £20m that job would be the same. Berbatov didn't score enough goals last season but with goals and assists he done alright.

He will score 20 give or take 2-3 and provide as many assists this season, don't worry about that. Will Bendtner even be a starter? Is he good enough to start at a club challenging for CL qualification and a few cups? I don't think he really is. He wouldn't start for Utd, he wouldn't start for Chelsea and he wouldn't start for Liverpool.

We will see what Berbatov is made of next season, if he has a similar season to last where he is afraid to shoot and doesn't get in the box nearly enough for a striker, 2nd striker or whatever, then I will admit he isn't suited for us and he has been a relative flop. But just because he has had a slow start means little or nothing, plenty of players have had slow starts in their career for a club and gone on to be pretty good.

Bendtner produced as much as Berbatov and he played less games. Berba would be on the bench for all of the other big 3 as well, so your point there is IRRELEVANT.

I thought Wrighty had a bit more about him than to base judgments on goal and assist stats :hysterics: Berbatov has different qualities and very productive qualities contributing heavily to attacks. He's often the root of attacks but because that isn't reflected in goal and assist statistics it's irrelevant? Wow ok.

Don't even think of getting your top trumps out.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.
