Hull City manager Phil Brown was hit yesterday by a £2,500 fine for bringing the game into disrepute, following comments he made about referee Mike Riley in the aftermath of the Tigers' FA Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal on March 17.

As a result, he feels that a half-hour "cooling off period" should be compulsory after games before the media can interview managers who are normally in a highly-agitated and emotional state after games, especially if they have lost.

"I was disappointed obviously to be found guilty because I thought it was a real high pressure situation," he explained to Sky Sports News.

"It was straight after a game. I really do think that the precedent should be set that you guys [the media] shouldn't be allowed to shove a camera in Premier League managers' faces just after a game.

"I think there should be a cooling down period. I think there should be a time - thirty minutes or so - after a game of football when a manager can allow himself [to calm down]."

Brown did stress that it was particularly important for those managers who were still relatively new to the Premier League media circus, and had not yet learned how to cope best with the intense pressure.

"I'm talking about a young and inexperienced manager in myself and not an experienced guy like Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger," he added.

"But I know it's compulsive viewing when you guys get the chance to catch us unawares and catch us off guard, and unfortunately it's cost me two and a half grand."

Cooling down period!

He mentions Fergie but if Fergie is pissed off after a game he doesn't do the interview and keeps his trap shut!

Yeh, but people want to hear the interviews straight after, especially if it's live on Sky.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

We want to feel the emotion, interviews are meant to be heated else no one watches them.
