SPURS manager Harry Redknapp is chasing Aston Villa winger Ashley Young.

And he is prepared to offer David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas to land the PFA Young Player of the Year.

England ace Young, 23, is Redknapp's top target in Spurs' search for a quality left-sided midfielder.

And he is hopeful of pushing through a deal after failing to get Gareth Barry.

It was during the Barry talks that news of Villa boss Martin O'Neill's admiration for Jenas first emerged.

Now Spurs will try to engineer a player-exchange deal worth almost £20million.

Villa paid Watford £9.65m for Young in 2007 and gave him a new £40,000-a-week contract to 2012 last November.

Tottenham are ready to pay him £55,000 a week.

Why would he join Spurs? No chance of this happening.

Don't think O'Neill will want to lose any more of his best players, and even if he did sell Young it would probably be for 30+ million. No offence but I think he'll stay at Villa or got to a top 4 team, not take a step down.
