Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais, has moved to confirm that star forward Karim Benzema will remain with les Gones until after the 2010 World Cup.

“I saw his father and agent at the beginning of the week,” the president told Le Progres. “We spoke a lot and it’s true that there are many clubs after him, but only after the World Cup. We interrogated his agent and we are not under the impression that he will leave in the short term.”

If Franck Ribery is to leave Bayern Munich this summer then he will go to Real Madrid, according to a source at the Spanish club who has spoken to L'Equipe.

The words come just a few days after the German side stated that the player was not for sale and that they would not be letting go of him.

Along with those declarations, Madrid president Florentino Perez told TVE that, "Ribery belongs to Bayern and Bayern do not want to sell him. I have to respect what the club want. But it would be a different matter if they were to change their opinion."

However, with Kaka already signed and Cristiano Ronaldo on the way, it would not be a surprise if Madrid do indeed manage to lure Ribery.

According to the source that spoke to the French newspaper L'Equipe, "there is no risk that Ribery would choose another club" than Real Madrid.

Whether or not the Frenchman will leave Bayern still is another matter but it is a sign that perhaps Madrid's stature is growing again.

It has been reported that Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in the winger and are willing to negotiate with Bayern for him.

However, with the player preferring Madrid, it looks as though he could either be set to stay in Germany or move to the Spanish capital.

Carlos Tevez will be the next big name to leave Manchester United after it was confirmed today that Real Madrid's offer of a reported £80 million had been accepted by the Red Devils for Cristiano Ronaldo

The Argentine is reportedly highly unimpressed with Red Devils manager Alex Ferguson's last-ditch attempt to persuade the player to stay via a telephone call, with the player feeling that he has been dealt with shabbily for the whole of last season.

That is the view expressed in a report in respected British football magazine FourFourTwo, with an unnamed source, reported to be close to the player and his advisers, claiming, "You treat someone badly for a whole year, you don't make it up with a telephone call, right?"

There is still apparently the possibility that the diminutive striker, popular amongst United fans for his hard-working attitiude and commitment, could swap a red Mancunian shirt for a blue and move acros town to Manchester City, but that is only one choice amongst many for the player, according to the magazine's source.

He added, "It's an option. But no one option is more serious than another – City, Chelsea, Liverpool: they're all options."

Negotiations about the player's future will reportedly begin soon, and the Premier League is his desired location, with FourFourTwo's source concluding, "It should take two to three weeks for Carlos's future to be finally decided."

Winner.

think quite a lot of fans are getting ahead of themselves, at this moment in time i'd still say they're the best team in the country even if they have lost their best player.

i'm going to wash my mouth out now

Yeah he's too "scared" to leave in case he flops elsewhere and his French career is destroyed...
