If Cesc goes we can use two deep lying central midfielders to protect the defense and rely on the creativity of Arshavin, Nasri and RVP going forward. It wouldn't be the end of the world because if Wenger continues to use him in the AM role we'll never see the best of him anyway. But saying all this, we'd be much better off keeping him as i feel he'll be reinvigorated next season after a good rest and the added determination to impress Barca as his inevitable move draws ever closer.

all i can say is that a lot of english clubs are gonna lose their best players

united will bounce back from this.maybe we wont even have to replace him.the players in the squad will up their game knowing that they cant rely on ronaldo anymore and i'm pretty sure that if we didnt replace him,we'd still be challenging for the prem until the end

SPANISH TV LA SEXTA REPORTING THE NEWS

I know the Man Utd fans will be in denial but you are not the same team without Ronaldo that is very clear and the only player you can get who might replace him is Franck Ribery but who says Man Utd even want him? he will cost alot of money and like Ant said earlier I think his mind is set on Spain. If you dont get Ribery I cant see who else you can realistically get :deepthought: I mean you can spend 30m on someone like Benzema but he is no replacement and he will struggle to get in the team with Rooney and Berrbatov upfront.

The message is simple

Buy Ribery or you will have a huge hole to fill

Even before Ronaldo left I said your midfield is a bit weak so not only do you have alot of work to do.

It's a sad day for me :tremble: , Ronaldo was the main engine behind our three year dominance and it's very sad to see him go. When Ronaldo came back into form end of last season you could see the difference of United being a good squad to a great one imo..this wasn't fergie decision I'm 100% sure of that it's a bussiness decision to pay off some of the increasing debts, with all the Ribery hype I'm 100% sure he don't want to play for us after seeing arguably the 2 of the top three players running off to spain and for Madrid. Villa is suppose to sign for Real Madrid in the coming days and Benzema hasn't shone anything this season in a shit league for us to splash millions on him, to be honest this feels like letting Beckham go and then chasing a certain Ronaldihno for months and eventually he signing for Barca and leaving fergie to sign for huge flops in Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba and likes of Bellion. Fergie doesn't have a good track records in signing big names and I wouldn't be suprise in seeing Valencia than Ribery in our number 7 shirt this coming season imo, so it's time for Nani, Anderson, Rooney, Berbatoss and co to step up and replace Ronaldo contributions in scoring and assist. And people forget that fergie don't have alot of time at the helm so rebuilding a team right now is crazy to say the least which makes the Ronaldo decision a Glazer decision imo.

To be fair trig he would just be another money grabbing asshole with an attitude. I think his best years are behind him anyways. Better to get someone fresh and hungry in IMO
Don't be silly...better to get someone better than the World's best player...

Anyway...Number 7 shirt up for grabs :dribble:
Who do you think im talking about?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

We won't truly know what gap is left by Ronaldo until the season starts but I think it's getting out of hand here saying we'll miss this and that from Ronaldo and our team will lack this and that. The only things that we are definitely missing for me his penetration ie his ability to run at players and his goalscoring exploits. We could sign 2 top players, preferably Ribery because he is one of very few wingers in Ronaldo's class, he's actually a lot better at playing the role IMO and then we need someone who can score goals, forget what else he can do, as long as he can score goals particularly from making runs in behind defences and with his head and is a neat finisher, a prowler in the box.

Ronaldo is or was a big part of how we play, the focal point of our team but as I mentioned already, we have Rooney who can be that figure but in a different way. If we sign one or two big players well the whole complexion of our team changes, we have been playing more possession football the season just gone than before when it was a pure counter-attacking team built on pace. Last season it was more patient build-up, trying to control the game in opposition half, now I don't know about anyone else but I like my team to control the posession and pin teams back, if we have a proper finisher in the team, it can be fairly destructive.

There will be good and bad things that will happen to us, this is obvious. Don't anyone tell me Ronaldo leaving will detrimental to everything in our team because we all know that's pure bullshit and things like that don't happen. We might see more from Nani who knows, Ronaldo's need to be the main man and his inability to play in a conventional winger role which comes with certain responsibilities in the modern game will free up some players from more restricting roles caused by having to equally share the extra load of work, it should also give us the chance to have a more balanced team in some ways too. It's not as if the rest of our team is filled with average players, we have some very very good ones and a top player and there could see us with a different type of team where the main features of Ronaldo's game aren't imperetive to our team operating at it's full potential.

I've said this a million times and before Ronaldo decided to leave, that we need a real goalscorer and if we can find a good replacement on the wing like Ribery or if Nani steps up, then we have the quality on the wings too. Let's see who we can snap up first, but I know we will see a different Man Utd next season but just because Ronaldo is not in it, don't fool yourself into thinking it will be a weaker Man Utd because we could well be stronger. You don't have to have the one of the top 2/3 players in the world in your team to be one of the very best teams in the world. The sum of all parts is the most important thing.

I always find it amusing how fans try to soften the blow of losing a great player by finding reasons to justify his departure.
