So he should be ffs, he's got no chance of joining us. (Btw I'd love to see how much Villa would hate us if we did sign him )

Man City are not an attraction for any top player, would Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, Ribery etc . . . go there? No. Having scored 30 league goals this season he's hardly likely to have a shortage of suitors is he. |

Messi- No because he is Barca for life Ronaldo- Only wants Real Madrid Kaka- Almost joined Ribery- Perhaps not Man City can offer the most money and Etoo would most certainly be interested. |

Kaka- Almost joined- No he didn't. He looked at City and decided that even stupid money wasn't worth the cessation of his career. Ribery- Perhaps not- Wants CL football, enough said. Man City can offer the most money and Etoo would most certainly be interested- Has just won the CL and La Liga, what can City offer? |

Kaka was so close to joining Man City but Gary Cook messed up the deal so in the end he said stuff this. Man City is a challenge and have big ambitions. |

CITY TARGET WOLFSBURG MAN EDIN DZEKO The man who seemed set to snub Chelsea yesterday and commit to another year in Germany, may now be on the Mancunians' radar... German football's Players' Player of the Year, VfLWolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko, a Bosnian international, is now on the transfer radar of fiscal superpower Manchester City, according to reports in The Manchester Evening News. Mark Hughes, having secured the services this week of England international midfielder Gareth Barry from Aston Villa for £12 million, is known to be keen to add to his striking options, with hot prospect Daniel Sturridge, reportedly a target for Chelsea. That would leave the Citizens short of physical presence up top, with Craig Bellamy as their front-line striker. Hughes tried to sign Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn Rovers in January, but that particular trail seems to have gone cold now. Atr 6'3", Dzeko, who netted 30 goals in 33 games in all competitions for Wolfsburg last season, would certainly add some strength and aerial power, as well as an eye for goal, to the Citizens' forward line. He also recorded 10 assists for the Wolves. City's scouts are reported to have watched the Bosnian on several occasions, with a £9 million fee being expected to be the striker's price tag. Wolfsburg paid out a third of that when they signed the player from FK Teplice in 2007. He has played 17 times for his country, netting 12 goals. Although also linked with Chelsea, City, backed by the wealth of the Abu Dhabi Group, will not be intimidated by their southern rivals' spending power. Edited by AntMcfc, Jun 4 2009, 05:45 PM.

MARK HUGHES will spend at least another £50million this summer to turn Manchester City into a Premier League force. Ex-Manchester United striker Diego Forlan, Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez and Blackburn hitman Roque Santa Cruz are his latest targets. Sparky snapped up England’s Gareth Barry for £12m from Aston Villa last Tuesday – just as the Daily Star Sunday said he would a fortnight ago. Hughes is now trying to clinch a £32m deal for Carlos Tevez as Man United fight to keep the on-loan striker. And with a striker his main priority, he’s also eyeing Forlan, Samuel Eto’o at Barcelona and Santa Cruz in case the Tevez deal fails to materialise. Forlan, 30, has just won the Golden Boot for the second time for being Europe’s top league goal scorer – the Uruguayan scored 32 goals in 33 games for Atletico Madrid. City, owned by the oil-rich Abu Dhabi United Group, are also keen on Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain – but the Argentinian, 21, is thought to be part of the Spanish giants’ future plans. And City realise that Hughes’ original top target – Bayern Munich’s French superstar Franck Ribery – would be hard to attract without the additional carrot of Champions League action. Martinez, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the outstanding midfield prospects in Europe and has already been linked with Man United and Liverpool. He’s 20, valued at £10m and played for Spain Under-20s. Hughes is also looking at defensive additions. Arsenal’s Kolo Toure is still a target and he also sees Everton’s Joleon Lescott as an option. And Hughes plans a £4m deal for Swansea’s Spanish right-back Angel Rangel, 26. Sparky won’t land all his targets – but there will be at least three or four more arrivals in an exciting summer for Blues fans. |
