I Hope tevez is the golden boot winner next season

Tevez will likely never win that award. I defended his finishing last season by reffering to his record at Corinthians, and justifying his poor hauls against that and the fact it was his first season but its patently obvious that he is not a good finisher. He's an insiprational figure, but Rooney is miles better than him. Better in every single way, except work rate where he is equal.

Villa fans seriously need to show some respect to Barry, he's the best player they've had in the PL and he stayed for 12 years. Newcastle fans thanked Given and wished him good luck, those are proper fans...

I think villa fans are justified in being a bit pissed off with barry, when the liverpool move looked on last summer he said he wanted to go because he wanted to play cl football. That is fair enough but he's now left for a club who finished well behind villa last season, the biggest reason being they will pay him 130k a week imo

Manchester City believe they are close to the £20million signing of Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

City began what promises to be a sensational summer of big spending with the £12m capture of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa on Tuesday and they have now turned their attention to Cameroon centre forward Eto’o, along with Carlos Tevez and a number of other big-name stars.
Scorer of the first goal in the Barcelona’ s 2-0 Champions League final triumph over Manchester United in Rome last week, 28-year-old Eto’o is widely recognised as one of the world’s great goal scorers.

City sources have indicated that Eto’o has been won over by their vision of the future, not to mention some astronomical wages, and that he is willing to move to Eastlands. Barcelona have also stated privately that they are willing to sell.
The Spanish champions’ president, Joan Laporta, last night stressed that Eto’o had a contract with Barcelona, but he admitted: ‘The market is very dynamic and there could
be surprises. He’s a wanted man and we know he’ll receive offers.’
Eto’o, who also scored in the Champions League final when Barca beat Arsenal in 2006, has a string of honours.

He has was Africa Player of the Year three times, he was voted best forward in the Champions League in 2006 and finished third in 2005’s FIFA World Player of the Year

With Gareth Barry's transfer sealed, Manchester City are reportedly set to boost their midfield further with the signing of Roberto Merino from Italian side Salernitana, according to the player's agent Jose Alberti. Fiorentina are also interested in the player.

"He is the kind of player that forces the defending team to pick up at least four bookings per game because he is really fantastic," Alberti proudly explained to Mediagol.

"Right now he has received an offer from Manchester City and another one from one of the clubs that want him. We have been contacted by Fiorentina, and wearing the purple shirt next season would be an honour for Merino. He is really a little Maradona."

If the Viola choose to follow up their interest in Merino, City will face stiff competition for the player's signature. At 27-years-old, Merino is also something of a journeyman after only joining the Serie B outfit earlier this year. The Peruvian stands at only 5ft 5in, which may hamper the former Servette player in the physical Premier League.

After the arrival of Shay Given from Newcastle United at Manchester City in January, promising English ‘keeper Joe Hart has been told by manager Mark Hughes that he could be loaned out to gain first team experience.

"It might be to both Joe's and the club's benefit if he did go out on loan," Hughes told the club's official website. "Joe is frustrated and obviously wants to play. We will look at his situation in the coming weeks. He'd be playing on a regular basis and, given his ability, he would no doubt improve his standing in the game and help his development."

Hart has appeared for the senior England side on one occasion, playing against Trinidad & Tobago last summer, and is in the Under-21 squad for the European Championship finals later this month.

After loan spells at Blackpool and Tranmere, it is likely that a higher profile club will take Hart on loan for the coming season, with Birmingham City rumoured to be interested.

Tevez and Eto'o upfront = PL contenders. NO JOKE.

I don't want Merino, just a form player. Will never succeed here. If Hughes wants that kind of player Mauro Zarate is the only option.
