The team is obviously extremely strong, with almost every area looking solid. Going into this summer, what area do you think Ferguson will look to strengthen, and who with? i feel Utd could do with an out an out goalscorer, a pacey Striker type of player. Alot of noise surrounds Benzema, and i guess that would be interesting to see if he could live up to the hype if he made the move

An out and out striker willing to play second fiddle so up-front we are equipped with:

Rooney, Berbatov, new striker, Ronaldo, Giggs.

A left-winger so on each wing we are equipped with:

Ronaldo, Nani, Park, Rooney, new winger.

We are pretty well-equipped in the centre of midfield with:

Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Anderson, Fletcher, Giggs

At centre-back we are well-equipped with:

Rio, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea

At right-back we could do with another signing depending on Brown's injury status, but right now we have:

Brown, Hargreaves, O'Shea, Neville, Rafael

Perhaps at left-back we need more cover because we are only equipped with:

Evra, O'Shea, Fabio

In goal VDS is back to his old self but unless Fergie trusts foster, a long-term number one may be needed, we currently have:

VDS, PIG, Foster

So we are pretty strong as it is and I can only forsee Tevez leaving us.
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Suppose we need a real goalscoring striker although I'm reasonably assured that Rooney and Ronaldo can score 25 each, Berbatov can score 20. That's enough providing there's goals being scored by other players like Carrick who can score more and Vidic who's always a threat.

We could do with a right-back as Neville is getting old and Brown might not be as much of a rock as he was in 2007/08. Rafael can't be expected to be a first choice, we've had problems there this season and several players have played there but we might have the problem of not having a regular top right-back and that could be a worry. Left-back is similar Fabio can't be expected to produce consistently yet despite having a lot of ability, cover for Evra would be nice.

A new winger would be nice although we might see a decent impact from Tosic next season with the talented Ljajic offering a nice bonus when he joins in January. Ribery would be a dream come true but I can't be expecting that to happen. Centre-midfield would be one of the positions I'd like to see addressed, Anderson's a good bit away from being the next Scholes and I don't really feel comfortable having Carrick as our main creator in the centre as his form blows hot and cold.

We have players who have the potential to fill the apparent gaps we have in the squad like Foster for goalkeeper, the next couple of seasons are going to be sort of transitional periods and we need to start seeing our 'prospects' stepping it up a gear or else we will need to dip into the market and there's not too many top class players around IMO.

If tevez goes we will need to sign another striker, i don't think macheda or welbeck can be relied on regularly just yet. However, when we had rvn he scored the vast majority of our goals which i think is actually a problem. Rvn was a fantastic goalscorer but i'd rather have 3 players scoring 20+ goals, our football was very one dimensional with rvn. Since he left we have become more varied attack wise so an out and out goalscorer might not be the best move

I suppose if we aren't going to keep tevez then benzema would be there for a similar amount. Obviously there will be the question of whether he can adapt overhere, but more importantly where he will be in the pecking order. In midfield we will see more of tosic and ljajic will arrive in the summer, hargreaves will be fit (hopefully) and that will be like having a new signing. I would like to see more creativity in midfield but we will have Fletcher, Scholes, Hargreaves, Anderson and Carrick plus Giggs who plays there now and Ljajic so theres not room for another

Defensively we don't need to change unless a good player who could play in a couple of positions defensively became available, i would try to gradually replace vds with foster next season tho

CM and CF. You need a box to box midfielder with class, De Rossi for instance, and you need a real goalscorer who will play very far up the pitch, as you can't rely on a winger to carry you for many more seasons. Benzema or Ibrahimovic would be ideal.

We won't sign a striker. Fergie just splashed out on Berbatov last summer, and if we need to rotate we will just play an extra man in midfield instead of using a 3-pronged attack. Fergie's stalling on the Tevez deal could suggest that he's got someone else in mind though...

If Tevez leaves, United will need another striker. Preferably one who plays high up the pitch, and can actually attack the box with more consistency. Berbatov and Rooney both play 'in the hole' so as to speak, and an out and out CF would help as it would give us more variety in attack.

The main question arises whether Ronaldo stays. If he does, then a CF , would be the only real addition Utd need. Maybe a CM based on Hargreaves' fitness.

If Ronaldo does leave, then we will need a CF, a support striker, and a winger to fill in the gaps.

Back-up for RB and LB would be nice, but there aren't too many decent players out there who will be happy to be 2nd/3rd in the pecking order, so getting someone in would be a bit difficult.
