You have taken a great team, spent a hell of a lot of cash on the side, improving on areas you said were weak and getting all the players that YOU wanted, and now we can finish 9th at best and at worst we could finish behind Stoke in 11th! Worst thing is, I've just heard an interview and Hughes has said he is 100 percent sure he will be manager next season, he has spoken to our chairman and he said the chairman is fed up of speculation and has assured Hughes he will be manager come next season.

Now, Hughes will blow hundreds of millions, on shit players, and wreck yet another season. Then when we lose games it will again 'obviously' be the players' fault. Oh well, there's always the season after next...

At least your owner has adopted a patient approach....

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Rome wasn't built in a day, nor was it built in a season. The money isn't going to go away, you've got plently to look forward to. City fans can't just expect world class players to join up and follow Robinho's trend as that deal happened under odd circumstances. Hughes is building a team, and will probs finish in Europe positions next season. I commend both Hughes and the Sheikh for being pragmatic, you should do the same.

City will have time to focus solely on the league next seasn and that's a good thing, fair enough some players won't want to join if they're not playing in Europe but all the HUGE names being mentioned probably weren't going to join anyways. Being a good league tea is the foundation, in recent years teams who fare well in the PL go on into the UEFA Cup and their league form suffers. City won't hae this problem next season, they will look to build a consistent team and that's going to help in the long run, they will qualify for the Europa League and the good isgnings they made this season like Robinho, Kompany and De Jong will continue to improve in a league they are new to. Then they will able to mount a more serious challenge on trophies.

Ant is expecting miracles and what's more, he's expecting tem to happen too soon, give it some time, one step at a time. Improvement in the league next year, Europa League qualification and a good run in the cups and PL the next season after, even a push for CL football and then and only then (in 3 seasons) will they be able to realistically challenge for the PL title. It won't happen any sooner, I'll bet everything I own on that.

By not playing european football next season Mark Hughes has left Mna City in a bad position if they really want to bring in some top names. They will now struggle to get the top stars and I just hope the owners soon realise that Hughes is not good enough to take Man City up a level or two because a squad of their talent and ability should be finishing no longer than 7th at least. :greatpost: Fulham dont even have half the squad Man City do so I feel for you Ant.
