Thought they were absolutely brilliant today, the passing was fantastic and their patience in the build-up was commendable; that said, they didn't quite get the lucky break that they perhaps deserved - that and United defended very well.

Alex Song was man of the match for me, really solid and composed defensively and built from the back really well - again showing his credentials as a quality player.

It's just a pity Arsenal lacked a killer touch; i thought Van Persie was poor and Wenger would have been far better off playing the ever-derided Bendtner from the outset.

The main downside is that a performance of this magnitude gives Wenger more ammunition to silence his doubters; despite how well Arsenal played, changes are still needed and I just hope, for Arsenal's sake, that Wenger doesn't read too much into this performances as it does little to offset what has been a forgettable season for the club.

Winner.

they performed well because they were under no pressure against a very nervous manyou team yet still couldnt manage a decent effort on goal.

Thanks elcule that was a really nice post and its nice to see people who appreciates the club values. I thought the lads were top class today and would have won easily had their been a target man and a vocal point but for some reason Adebayor was not even in the squad. You make a good point at the end about Wenger using this match to say the team does not need much when you know yourself that there needs to be improvements inh certain areas of the pitch.

You keep saying you want a vocal point? Maybe you should replace Bentdner with Eminem.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Good post El. But I think that Wenger will realise that we need additions to the squad to maintain that level of performance. It's weird that Chelsea are the only team in the "big 4" to beat us yet we've still won nothing.I hope Wenger doesn't kid himself that this squad is enough because it quite clearly isn't.

Well...

Song has been Arsenal's best Midfielder of late. Denilson was class though.

Good Arsenal performance, but pointless. Why the fvck could we not do it when it mattered...i.e CL S/F.

DaG also said that Song would be a great midfielder last year when he was deployed there for Cameroon in the ACN. Back then he said he's going to be the next big thing and that hopefully Wenger realises CM is his best position.

He also said Fabianski is better than Almunia because he had impressed in a few Carling Cup games...he is observant and analytical but he's also fickle.

Fabianski is a good reader of the game and he does well at crosses but at the same time he can be a headless chicken.
