For me, the most improved player has to be Theo Walcott. Still far from the finished article, but this season he has become stronger and more penetrative with his runs, as well as improving on his final ball. His prescence scares opposition defenders, something that he wasn't able to do last season.

In terms of a player going backwards, i'd have to opt for Adebayor. Dont think much more explanation is needed.

Ireland most improved, that is undebatable. Dunne has gone backwards but he was piss poor at the end of last season too. Richards hasn't impressed anything like he did last season though.

I'd probably say Lennon has improved the most, twice the player he was last season. Despite a poor start to the league he was always in top form. Hopefully he can work on his crossing and he'll be an even bigger threat than he is now.

I'm not really sure about what player has gone backwards, It's hard to tell because since the poor start, we have been on good form as individuals and as a team. There probably are 1 or 2 that have slipped my mind, but I can't think of any. Especially since there are only 4 or 5 players that were here last season.

I answered this question as part of a topic I made way back in August and said Rooney for improved and VDS for diminished, lots of people said Giggs!

Right now I think Rooney or Giggs for most improved.

For most diminished.... Hmm...probably Nani, nobody really stands out for me to be honest.

I was thinking that but it'd be harsh, he had some injuries, played one of best games in years against Fulham so it's been pretty mixed. Only very recently has he really diminished. He had some iffy games last season too. I think Nani has got to be the most diminished but that's just me.

Lennon for me, he's been outstanding when you watch him play a real talent in my eyes.
Berbatov has played quite well this season too.

Neville hasn't diminshed any more than last year. Brown and Hargo cant really be included cos they have been injured all season. I'd say Anderson for most diminished tbh. He has started to improve again recently though.

neville has been borderline average since last season, he's 33 and even though he has been injured his performances haven't been good enough

i dont want to sound condescending but...

what happens when you dont play football for a year?

you decline as a player, and that is especially true in your latter years.

I fully understand that but im taking the question from a playing point of view. A guy that barely played last year and has barely played this year isn't the one i'd pick as most diminished. He hasn't had a good run in the team to get match fitness back and we are effectively comparing his odd performance now to his consistent ones from 2 seasons ago.

I guess its just a different interpretation really.

i get what you mean but this year he surely must have declined more as a player because he hasnt played thus making him the most diminished.

like you said i my just have a different interpretation
