This is the best Manchester United side I've seen for a long time. People go on about the team that won the treble in 1999, but I think the current crop is better.

I don't want to take anything away from the 1999 team, but they nearly didn't win any of those three trophies. They needed two goals in injury time to win the European Cup - and Bayern Munich should have had the game wrapped up by then. They wouldn't have won the FA Cup if Dennis Bergkamp had scored his penalty in the semi-final. And if Arsenal hadn't lost at Leeds then they might have beaten United in the Premier League too.

Ferguson: on verge of title

That team could easily have ended up with nothing, but this team have breezed through everything. Sir Alex Ferguson made a rare wrong move by putting a weak team out in the FA Cup semi-final, but apart from that they have looked very strong.

But even if they equal the record of 18 titles, I don't think you could say they are as successful as Liverpool, simply because they haven't won as many European Cups.

Whatever team Arsenal put out on Saturday, I don't think any of them would get in the United team. Maybe Cesc Fabregas would get on the bench, but even he would struggle to get in that side right now.Paul Merson

However, you can only judge teams according to what you've seen. Most 15-year-olds wouldn't know anything but Manchester United dominance, but 60-year-olds would probably say Liverpool are bigger by miles.

But there's no denying that Man United have overcome almost everything that has been put in front of them this year - and I've no doubt they will put their strongest team out to get the point they need against Arsenal.

They would love to win it at Old Trafford. It wasn't too long ago that Arsenal went there and won the league and Sir Alex won't have forgotten that.

Behind
He's also got to be careful because you never know what Arsenal team are going to turn up; on their day they are capable of going to Old Trafford and winning.

Overall though, Arsenal are miles behind. I don't think you'll ever see a more one-sided Champions League semi-final played over two legs than what we saw between these two teams. That tie showed how far off this Arsenal team is.

Of course, Arsenal go out to win every week and there's no way they'll be turning up there to be embarrassed. They'll go there with the intention of spoiling the party, but I can't see anything but a United win.

United wiped the floor with them two weeks ago and it would take a lot to turn it around that quickly. You'd be dubious about sending a boxer back into the ring two weeks after getting knocked out and this is no different.

Whatever team Arsenal put out on Saturday, I don't think any of them would get in the United team. Maybe Cesc Fabregas would get on the bench, but even he would struggle to get in that side right now.

PAUL'S PREDICTION
Home win - Arsenal cannot defend, as we saw against Chelsea last week. The midfield is too weak - they just jog back when they lose the ball - and I can't see them living with Man United. I'll go for 3-0 to United.

MERSON'S MAGIC MAN
Wayne Rooney - I always pick him because he's so important to Man United. He makes things happen and his energy always gets the crowd going. He's the player for me.

Sagna obviously would get into the team........ Cesc's been awful this season, but obviously he's better then Fletcher, he was better then any midfeilder in the world last season, hell he out-shined any player in the world last season (Bar Ronaldo, and at a push Torres & Cassilas), that doesn't just get erased suddenly, despite his shiteness this season. Park is also better then Arshavin, eh Merse. I would personally have Almunia over VDS as well, and i think one of our strikers could at least push Tevez/Berba for a place. This would be my team:

Almunia
Sagna Ferdinand Vidic Evra
-------Carrick-Fabregas----
Ronaldo--Arshavin--Rooney
--------------?-------------

Obviously, Man U are a better side, but Merson is just an absolute twat who's always been bitter that Wenger shipped him off as soon as he got there. Even in the Invincible era, he was finding lame excuses to slag the team off, i remember when we beat Leeds 7-1 with Henry getting 4 goals, the next day he comes out and calls us a disgrace for having too many foreigners. One of the biggest twats in football

We beat Leeds 5-0 because I was there and I remember it so well it was like a carnival atmosphere because we were so close to winning the league.

Arsene Wenger has been branded "childish" by former Arsenal star Paul Merson as their public war of words continues.

The former midfielder-turned-Sky Sports pundit was vocal in his criticism for the Gunners boss labelling him "clueless" following the 3-3 collapse against Anderlecht last week.

Wenger in turn reacted angrily calling such talk a "joke" dismissing Merson as he had not managed at the highest level.

But, speaking to the Daily Star, the 46-year-old is determined to stand his ground.

"I think it's childish he's had a dig at me. Not interested in Paul Merson? He was begging me to stay when he offered me a new contract.

"I was surprised when I saw what he'd said about me. It shocked me. It's weird."

I'm with Paul Merson on this. Shows how far Wenger's fallen that he's now being owned by someone who's brain's been pickled by drink and drugs.

On an individual basis, I do look at each of the next 6 games and see us fucking them up, but if we can't at least fluke one victory then we're truly faced with one of the darkest eras in our history.

I don't understand the doom and gloom. Asides from Chelsea running a mock with the prem which was going to happen anyway, things aren't that bad. I'd say we have a better squad than we have had in recent years and have just won the FA Cup. Progress. We are certainly in better shape now than we were 4years ago.

We've had a poor start to the season but so have every other side asides from Chelsea. Once we get Kos and Debuchy back I think we'll be much more settled.

Our goalkeeper, defence, and defensive midfield situation is the worst it's been in a long time, even with Kosicelny and Debuchy available.
