This is the best Manchester United side I've seen for a long time. People go on about the team that won the treble in 1999, but I think the current crop is better. I don't want to take anything away from the 1999 team, but they nearly didn't win any of those three trophies. They needed two goals in injury time to win the European Cup - and Bayern Munich should have had the game wrapped up by then. They wouldn't have won the FA Cup if Dennis Bergkamp had scored his penalty in the semi-final. And if Arsenal hadn't lost at Leeds then they might have beaten United in the Premier League too. Ferguson: on verge of title That team could easily have ended up with nothing, but this team have breezed through everything. Sir Alex Ferguson made a rare wrong move by putting a weak team out in the FA Cup semi-final, but apart from that they have looked very strong. But even if they equal the record of 18 titles, I don't think you could say they are as successful as Liverpool, simply because they haven't won as many European Cups. Whatever team Arsenal put out on Saturday, I don't think any of them would get in the United team. Maybe Cesc Fabregas would get on the bench, but even he would struggle to get in that side right now.Paul Merson Quotes of the week LIVE ON SKY SPORTS Man United v Arsenal 12pm, Sat, Sky Sports 1 & HD1 However, you can only judge teams according to what you've seen. Most 15-year-olds wouldn't know anything but Manchester United dominance, but 60-year-olds would probably say Liverpool are bigger by miles. But there's no denying that Man United have overcome almost everything that has been put in front of them this year - and I've no doubt they will put their strongest team out to get the point they need against Arsenal. They would love to win it at Old Trafford. It wasn't too long ago that Arsenal went there and won the league and Sir Alex won't have forgotten that. Behind He's also got to be careful because you never know what Arsenal team are going to turn up; on their day they are capable of going to Old Trafford and winning. Overall though, Arsenal are miles behind. I don't think you'll ever see a more one-sided Champions League semi-final played over two legs than what we saw between these two teams. That tie showed how far off this Arsenal team is. Of course, Arsenal go out to win every week and there's no way they'll be turning up there to be embarrassed. They'll go there with the intention of spoiling the party, but I can't see anything but a United win. United wiped the floor with them two weeks ago and it would take a lot to turn it around that quickly. You'd be dubious about sending a boxer back into the ring two weeks after getting knocked out and this is no different. Whatever team Arsenal put out on Saturday, I don't think any of them would get in the United team. Maybe Cesc Fabregas would get on the bench, but even he would struggle to get in that side right now. PAUL'S PREDICTION Home win - Arsenal cannot defend, as we saw against Chelsea last week. The midfield is too weak - they just jog back when they lose the ball - and I can't see them living with Man United. I'll go for 3-0 to United. MERSON'S MAGIC MAN Wayne Rooney - I always pick him because he's so important to Man United. He makes things happen and his energy always gets the crowd going. He's the player for me. Whatever team Arsenal put out on Saturday, I don't think any of them would get in the United team. Maybe Cesc Fabregas would get on the bench, but even he would struggle to get in that side right now. YOU FUCKING donkey YOU HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE MATE SO sheep OFF AND GET BACK TO REHAB YOU FUCKED UP DRUGGY. THOSE DRUGS HAVE REALLY FUCKED YOU UP AND THOSE COMMENTS ARENT JUST STUPID BUT THEY ARE AN INSULT TO ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB AND CESC FABREGAS WHO WOULD WALK INTO THE MAN UTD SIDE. 3-0? I THOUGHT YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO BE A GOONER MY WORD MY UNCLE HAD A DOG NAMED AFTER YOU BECAUSE YOU USED TO BE A LEGEND BUT NOW YOU ARE THE MOST ANTI NEGATIVE ARSENAL PERSON I HAVE EVER SEEN. YOU ALWAYS SLATE THIS CLUB AND YOU ALWAYS PUT US DOWN SO STOP TALKING ABOUT US MERS

I love Paul Merson ![]() Such an honest bloke. A lot of it's true though. Arshavin and Sagna would start at United but Fabregas on this season's form wouldn't

Agreed with Fabregas and also about Sagna and Arshavin. Fabregas = Far from blistering form. He hasnt done mucch this season so Merson has a fair point |

Almunia, Sagna, Fabregas, Arshavin and one of RVP/Walcott/Eduardo would get into the United line up... |

I told you all that everyone on this forum knows more than Paul Merson. How Sagna is worse than John O'Shea, Rafael and Gary Neville is beyond me. |

Horrendous post? Anderson is 5th choice at United for a start so Carrick would partner Fabregas. Wayne Rooney is much better than Tevez, please pick the better players, not your favourite players. VDS is back to his usual self, both him and Manuel are top keepers. |

Potential is nothing, and yes, you like young, bright players that show occasional flair and pace but totally ignore misplaced passing and idiotic ball-use.... |
