The PL has been the noughties best league, whilst Serie A probably the nineties, but which league has been the best since the creation of football?

Perhaps Diego can shed some light, I'm leaning towards Italy :deepthought:

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

i was thinking Serie A has been the best longetivity wise, although diego would be best to shed some light.

What order would you place leagues across the world in Diego? And which decades belonged to each league?

its really difficult to say mate, the english league dominated europe in the late 70s early 80s and again now, but the bundesliga had its fair share also so too the dutch league, but overall id put serie a top, spain has europes most succesful club but other clubs inc barca havent been dominant in europe,
but winning the euro cup/cl league isnt the be all and end all, and the italian league has always been a big favourite of foreign players, showing it has massive appeal
as for other leagues, the argentine league isnt great neither is the brazilian league, although they were far better thann they are now,

as for listing the top leagues in order, i don't feel i'm qualified to do that, so i'll leave it to people who know

Italian football has been the vocal point but over the past 60 years even the Dutch league and eastern european football have been up by the top for a period of time. English league never really had any big foriegn stars in until the Argentines joined Tottenham.

Serie A and Italian football is the grandad of football, the spiritual home and the rightful place for football to live. Serie A is the league all others can aspire to, the 90's it was ten times better than the PL is now...

The Serie A I watched in the 90's was the best I've seen. Milan were an awesome team early 90's, then Juventus who were amazing, Inter weren't bad back then and Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina and Parma were also really top class teams. Milan did go through a bit of a rough patch by their standards but were still great.

That's 7 teams and they were all what would now be seen as CL quality, stronger than the PL is now an if there were 4 teams allowed in the CL back then it would've been like the Coppa Italia no mistake about it.

There was huge strength in depth in Italy and every team had their own collection of world class players. The league is only a shadow of its former self.

 Nice. I'd love to see all of those teams back then in the CL these days.

Such a shame, Saturday morning and Football Italia with a match later in the day and then another on Sunday was such a highlight for me back then, I lost the love for Serie A a few years ago because it became 'too Italian'. The players in he 90's: Signori, Casiraghi, Weah, Moriero, Zanetti, Balbo, Maldini, Batistuta, Del Piero, Albertini, Vieri, Salas, Veron, Zidane etc. there was just so many, I've left out some real class players too. Every other league in world football was jealous of the quality of teams and players Serie A had.

Parma back in the day were my favourite side, like you said, Sunday with Gazzetta was just brilliant. Used to make my Sundays complete.

Parma were the dream team for years, Buffon, Thuram, Cannavaro all at the back, it was just pure dribbleworthy...
