You don't have to be a fan of someone to realise they're a key factor in deciding the fate of next season's title.

Winner.

I have to say I am resigned and inclined to agree that Liverpool's challenge will be stronger next season. Similarly Chelsea's and Arsenal's. United might not make manny signings, but with a relatively young team we too will improve... bloody up for 09/10! (btw when are we gonna see a new manu kit?)

Oh yea, it will be stronger, and they may well push United far more closely than they have done this season. But like I said, I don't think they have done a particularly good job this year with regard to posing a title challenge, so I'm sure it will improve.

Rolling they have. If we had the same number of points now as we did at this stage last season, the title race wud defo go down to the wire, we'd be 2 points ahead of lpool. the race may continue til the last day as it is anyway. you seem abit flippant of the threat lpool hav posed.

That's because it's still a 6 point gap despite us arguably being worse than we were last year. I think this last surge from the Pool and the fact that we've always been a game or 2 behind has belied how comfortable this year really has been.

I said last season he was overrated - because he was. This season he has continued to prove me wrong and I am now willing to accept that, for Liverpool at least, he is a World Class player.

oooh rolling u make a good point, we have been a game behind, if we'd played our fixtures alongsidelpool things wudve looked more comfortable... CONDITIONAL TENSE... the fact is we didnt have it that way, and as they always say, better to have the points in the bag, whether it was the schedule or lpool themselves or abit of both, pressure has been applied, no doubt about it.

True, but that limits them to posing a 'psychological challenge' rather than one based on points does it not? Obviously, both are key, but the lack of the latter ultimately means that the challenge wasn't too serious.

United have been quite poor this season by their standards. Thats why Liverpool have come close. If united raise their game (which I expect them to) then liverpool have no hope

to borrow ur phrases from the philosophy thread mate, im gonna endeavour to deconstruct that. BOTH ARE KEY.... CHALLENGE WASN'T SERIOUS cos there was no latter... so the former aint key then isit. but the thing is it is, and also, BECAUSE of scheduling, the latter WAS there. We have just gained a 6 point lead for the first time in dunno, but ages. anyhing less than that is not comfy at all...unlike my bed :D
