If i wanted to i could list loads of mistakes by fergie...
Good for you, every manager makes mistakes but fergie has won a premiership
It took Fergie over 7 years to win his first title and Rafa has almost done it in 5 with a weaker team than Fergie had and with the league being far more competitive these days.
Liverpool were in much better shape when rafa took over than united were when fergie did
Hell no
What the sheep, liverpool were consistently top 4, united were mid=table with ageing injury prone players

Who is the better manager Homer, Fergie or Benitez? ONE WORD ANSWER.
Im sorry but I cant give you a one word answer

In terms of history then of course it has to be Fergie but if you have to ask me whos the better coach/manager then I would have to say Rafa. This guy has transformed an average Liverpool side into a world class team with world class players in a space of 4/5 years despite having a poor board and having to deal with certain circumstances.

Back then the league was inconsistent, one year you could win the league, the next year you were facing relegation

Roonaldo, We were fighting for 4th with a average Chelsea, Ipswich, newcastle and Leeds.... To take that to a title challenge 5 years later is remarkable, with limited funds

http://www.liverweb.org.uk/benitez.asp

According to this, since he came in, he has spent more than what he received from sales. Quite a lot more.
And this after the writer ignores the costs of players like Mascherano (20 million?).

Anyways, this will never be settled. But the least the fans could do is appreciate that Liverpool have come a long way this season, and will probably challenge ever more next season. Blaming it on lack of money seems like sour grapes.

Plus, this inevitably leads to a discussion where Utd fans will say they earned the money through on-field performances, marketing, and business accumen, and that they should not be blamed for using that money to cement their positions further.

He spent more(only just) because he had to assemble a whole new team and buy loads of players which all adds up but overall Liverpool dont have anywhere near the funds United do.
he didnt have to bring in a team team, thats disrespectful to houllier, he only brought in lots of new players because he's turned liverpool into espanya uk

The Spanish tactician claims that the Reds struggle to compete with Arsenal - in the transfer market...

Rafa has lost his mind. Arsenal have spent less than the bottom three of the PL you buffoon! Rafa clearly is a deluded individual sometimes...

This is all bollocks. Along with every comment made by homer and phil on this thread. The vast majority of Rafa's signings have been utter shite. Its got sheep all to do with money, he just cant pick the right players.

He has spent enough money in recent years, fair enough not so many big fee transfers but if you look at Utd and two of our best signings in recent times being Vidic and Evra both costing around 7m-8m each. Rafa could've got them but he has spent a lot of money on rubbish players. Some have just not hit it off but some were never expected to be anything other than squad players. Too much money spent on filling out the squad rather than improving the team.
