Hello and welcome to our sixth match-up in the Liquid Football World Football Draft. You know the drill by now, so let's crack on.

Voting
- Players must be judged solely on their performance from 1992 onwards!
- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<You are voting for which team you believe is best, NOT which team would win a one-off game. Teams are judged on an individual basis. VOTE FOR THE BEST TEAM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
- Please bear in mind that football matches are not won on paper, so when voting, many other factors should be considered.

Kingsoflondon

My team is perfectly balanced, i've got one of the greatest striker's ever up front, somebody who through-out his career constantly changed games with vital goals. My foward-line speaks for itself: 4 ultra-talented superstars who will create and score at will. In that foward-line i have 2 Ballan'Dor winners and 2 Ballan'Dor runner-ups. Don't need a description for my foward-line.

Then i have 2 sitting midfeilders who between them offer everything you could want from a midfeild partnership. One of them is a man who will constantly harass every single player on the pitch. He'll utterly dominate the game and any top quality Central midfeilder's won't have room to breathe. Will just cover every blade of grass. The other is a passing god, short passes, long passes, he'll provide them all, will create and never, ever give the ball away. Can get his foot in as well. My back 4 is rock solid, i have by far the best defender available in the game, and any good RW will be left dominated and pinned in his own area against this mountain of a player. Then there's a highly reliable Full-back on the other side who can more then hold his own going foward and defensively, he's also great on the ball and can spring an excellent pass. Then in CB i have 2 physically dominating CB's who will just chomp up every ball that come's there way, both are very quick so can come foward when needed. Then i have one of the best shot-stoppers ever in goal.

Which team is best?

Discussion may begin.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Kol, are you worried Materazzi will get sent off a lot?

For me KOL just takes it, although he's big upped his team to a ridiculous level in that essay. I was reading it before looking at his team thinking "wow he must have legends throughout." Then i looked and was like "It's decent and well balanced, but not earth shattering." But he wins anyway.

Moe's spine is unquestionably good, but people will have doubts over Recoba and MaccyD Curly.

Both sides are fantastic but for me Moe just nicks it due to have a superior defence. KOL's team probably has that bit more going forward - particualrly in the creative department, but Moe's solidity is fantastic and he still combines that with goals.

Elcule's vote: Moe.

Winner.

and so we begin.... im going to explain my team first as individuals then how they would work as park of a team so this may be a long read

GK Peruzzi: the world class goalkeeper picked up the serie a goalkepper of the year award three times (only matched/beaten by buffon) used to hold the record of most expensive goal keeper (beaten by buffon) and was probably one of the best goalkeepers of the 90's
RB Miacon: currently the best right back in the world, and has been for a couple of seasons now. he is an unorthodox rb since he is 6ft but he is very good defensively and his speed and crossing ability makes him a threat going forward
RCB Carvalho: we all know he has been a world class defender for the last 5 years, his reading for the game is immaculate and the timing of his challenges are up there with the very best. very good ariely as well and was the unsung hero of chelsea back to back pl titles.
LCB Samuel: the wall, he was a battering ram, threw himself at everything won every header, out muscled every attacker. the perfect partner for carvalho.
LB Pearce: nicknamed pshyco and for good reason, he was a leader and probably the best defensive leftback england has ever seen. never gave attackers a chance but people forget how good he was on the ball as well. his crossing ability provided many attacking opportunities, in fact he has such a good left foot he used to take freekicks.
RCM Scholes: not that he isnt good now but in his youth he was a huge attacking threat, timing his runs to perfection. his shots were powerful and accurate and his passing immaculate as ever...his lack of "tricks" makes him an underrated playmaker but there are few that can match up to him in terms of quality and longevity
LCM Deschamps: famously dubbed the water carrier by cantona, he was the man who invented the role that makelele perfected. his role was simple get the ball and pass it to more creative players. And he was one of the best at it, helping his teams win 2 french titles, 3 serie a titles, italian cup, italian super cup, super cup, fa cup, 2 champions leagues, 1 european cup, 1 world cup not to mention a uefa cup runner up. he was not only a great player but he was a great leader, becoming the youngest captain the win the CL plus leading his country to the euros and world cup titles
RM McManaman: pace, skill, goals, assists, competent defensively and one of the greatest english players to play the game. if it wasnt for beckham mania he would have gotten the recognition he deserved. I suggest you watch some clips of him on youtube.
LM Recoba: i know he is controversial, but imo he was vastly underrated, amazing dribbler, playmaker, magical left foot which made him a threat from crosses, shots and freekicks. he was a world class player. Go on youtube to see him in action.
ST Shevchenko: at his peak he was a goal machine for ac milan, 127 goals in 208 games is an amazing achievement don’t let his time at Chelsea cloud your judgment, there was a reason why he won the ballon d’or
CF van Nistelrooy: doesn’t need explanation, he scored goals. End of.

How my team will work:
My full backs will mostly be defending but will have freedom to join in on counterattacks and overlaps. My CB partnership of Carvalho and Samuel would work amazingly well, similar to Rio and Vidic, with one stepping back and reading the game whilst the other goes in for challenges etc. Deschamps would sit deep in my midfield helping out the defenders, winning the ball and giving Scholes the freedom to do his thing. McManaman and Recoba would provide width and penetration with cute dribbling and providing lots of crosses to my front 2. Shevchenko would play off Rvn, getting onto lose balls and making runs for Scholes, McManaman and Recoba to find. Sheva will stretch defenses and create space. Rvn will do what he does best, challenge in the air, hold up the ball, link up the play and get the goals.

Simple and effective, I hope that mammoth post answers some of your questions and gets me some votes!

It does indeed. I was gonna go KoL but that's convinced me. I like it, a traditional 4-4-2. My vote goes to Moe

KOL's team for me. When I first saw it I thought it would be the winner, and I still think similarly. The attacking quartet is simply the best in the game. Romario while the second best striker of the period, was without a doubt the best finisher. Savicevic and Stoichcov are perhaps not as legendary, but perhaps more talented individuals, and Litmanen wasn't half bad either. Much though depends on how the two wide men get back, and I think KOL needs to rethink his tactics as to how the two operate defensively. You cannot rely on Effenburg and Veron to cover for Stoichcov's attacking predilections. However, I feel the presence of Maldini will save KOL's potentially shaky defence as Campbell was liable to make mistakes.

Comparatively, KOL's team is better in every department other than GK and RB. Good luck in the later stages KOL :D

KOL really knows his football but I'm not as big a fan of his team as Rollingpin. Both teams are top quality but Moe gets my vote on the basis of his spine.

KOL's side has been overrated to the max, I don't rate that strikeforce as highly as moe's, nor the midfield. The defence is about the same, however had Maldini been at CB I'd be rating Kol's more highly. I think Moe's system works well. RVN and Sheva is probably the 2nd best strikeforce in this game and will take his side far. Moe gets my vote.
