It's surely close between Gerrard and Vidic. I find it extremely strange that Vidic hasn't even made the top 3. I think if he had that bad game against Portsmouth instead of the high profile Liverpool game, things would be different.

I would be far more pleased with having won the Writer's award. Firstly, the timing and the voting system in the player's one is shit; secondly, the players are more than likely thicker than the journalists.

You just have to look at the two winners to see which is the more credible award.
even the dumbest of players are brighter than the average journalist, just look at what they write in the press, i'd much rather be reckonised by my peers than a group of no marks mate, i do agree the pfa award should be decided later though

Probably but it also doesn't help that he is a CB. Defenders rarely get nominated for high profile awards as they are overlooked for flair players and goal scorers.

Rollingstone is so far off the mark it's unreal. Gerrard has always been an overrated player but this season has been by far his best, and it's difficult to complain about him winning this award. His overall game has improved a lot and his ball-use has been fine.

Scholes, having been on this forum for a month now, you should know that whenever Gerrard is mentioned my sense of what is rational goes flying out of the window due to sheer hatred. :D

PFA Players' player of the year 2005 - John Terry.
PFA Fans' player of the year 2005 - Frank Lampard.
PFA Writers' player of the year 2005 - Frank Lampard.

Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Well done Stevie you fully deserve this award because your performances have been top class thats why Liverpool have improved so much this season. You really are in the top bracket of world class players.

I really do think that if the PFA were held later in the year, at the same time as the Writers' , the PFA would be the preferred award, if ther is such a thing. To be recognised by your peers is more of a mark of respect than the journos, as the players see more than the reporters will ever understand.
But with the timing of the two awards the way it is, you could say the Gerrard has been the best player this season, but I'm surprised Vidic isn't up there. Apart from 3/4 games recently, he has been top-notch , probably one of the best in the world.

Like i said before, Gerrard just won it by default. Nobody has been anywhere near the level of, let's say Ronaldo last year, or Henry in 04. I really didn't care about who the winner was.
