The Champions League final is taking place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome this year despite neither team in the final being from Italy. Many people complained and requested a move of location but was quickly disregarded as it apparently takes months to organise an event like the C/L final.

Quote:

Over the last decade there have been serious knife-related incidents involving supporters from Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Arsenal in Rome. The stabbing of an Arsenal fan while on route to the stadium for a Champions League match against AS Roma on 12 March this year, led to heightened calls to move the final from the city.

Your thoughts on the location?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

:deepthought:

Why would they change it so its held in England or Spain, that would be an advantage to one of the teams

The only reason there has been violence in Rome is because of the Roman Ultras but because Roma wont be competiting I honestly believe that there wont be any issues. Of course there will always be minor incidents but overall the security will be twice as tight considering how big the match is.

I dont foresee any problems because neither rome team is in the final.

As Homer said, much of the crime witnessed in the Olympico stems from the Roma / Lazio ultras; with them being cordially uninvited, I can't envisage too many problems unless the United fans find ways to get into mischief.

The venue is fine imo, the atmosphere will be cracking - the only problem being the pitch's lack of proximity to the stands - and the pitch is huge, which is as it should be. :)

Winner.

they might be uninvited but i dont think they will be to pleased having thousands of londoners and dagos stomping round their turf.
