Why not? You have to understand that they are humans that will make mistakes, especially when they only have split seconds to make the decision. I know i keep going back to rugby but they dont react. Once you know that there is a severe punishment in place, it serves as a deterrent.

There's a difference between abuse and making a comment. That's the line i mentioned earlier.

But if 5 people all comment on it then it becomes abuse, whether they use abusive language or not. They should use the rule that only the captain can talk to the referee.

I think that it needs to be made a global campaign as opposed to just in England and take a leaf out of Rugby's book whereby there are serious reprocussions for anyone showing dissent to a referee.
England sure was showing the rest of Europe how to respect the referee on Wednesday

Winner.

I agree with Erm.

Forget Rugby, and start invisioning the situation Erm is talking about. If you are denied a stonewall penalty in the last minute of a game, in which scoring it would result in the title, and not getting it results in losing it, then you CANNOT expect players to bottle their frustration. It's exactly the same as the Chelsea game midweek...I honestly cannot imagine a situation whereby a group of players could feel so hurt and frustrated, and expecting players to do nothing to vent that is insane

But on the whole, referees do need to be shown more respect. When a little decision doesn't go your way then deal with it Rooney.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

And thats exactly how you end up with scene's of Ballack chasing the ref and Drogba pointing at the ref and cursing in the tv camera's.

At the end of the day i've seen referee's decision affect the outcome of league and cups in the last minute but they have dealt with it. They have bottled their frustration and allowed the ref do their extremely hard job.
