Barcelona's Andres Iniesta is in a race against time to be fit for the UEFA Champions League final after being ruled out of the Copa del Rey with a thigh muscle tear.

The Spain midfielder sustained the problem in Sunday's 3-3 Primera Liga draw with Villarreal at Camp Nou.

Barca are set to examine the extent of Iniesta's injury on Monday and will then announce how long the 25-year-old is facing on the sidelines.

The playmaker will definitely miss Wednesday's Copa del Rey final with Athletic Bilbao, but his club are hopeful he will be fit to face Manchester United on 27th May.

Barca are already without suspended duo Dani Alves and Eric Abidal, while Thierry Henry is struggling to be ready for the Rome showpiece after suffering knee ligament trouble.

A majestic player, a very rich man's Hleb, but I won't complain if he doesn't make it, despite feeling sorry for him.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

He will be a huge miss, I'll wait until Monday before panicking unnecessarily though. If he is out then that will be 5/11 of our first choice side. Great.

Winner.

I have no idea who will play in defence and it would be such a shame if only a depleted Barca side turned up in the biggest game of them all.

Hopefully a quartet of Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov/Tevez & Park will destroy that "weak" defence.

Hopefully Guardiola knows he made a mistake playing Touré at centre half; despite him having a decent game, that was a key factor in Chelsea having more control of the midfield.

For me, whatever happens, Touré has to play midfield.

If all 5 don't make it, this is the side I would be temtped to play:

..................Valdes
Caceres...Puyol....Pique....Sylvinho
..............Touré...Xavi
....Messi.......................Hleb
..........Eto'o..Gudjohnson

Gudjohnson will provide a more physical presence up front, and tying up one of Rio or Vidic - hence Eto'o won't be totally marked out of the game. Hleb, with some minutes under his belt in the next few games can provide a threat and can interchange with Messi, making the latter harder to mark. We may risk not having as much possession but that is the most effective team i can think of.

Here's what we will play:

..................Valdes
Puyol...Touré....Pique....Sylvinho
..............Bicuits...
...........Xavi......Keita
Messi.......................Bojan/Hleb
.................Eto'o

Oh dear.

Hmm, I won't adversly affect the rythm and balance as much as you might think; from Wednesday onwards we can turn our attention completely to the CL Final - forging partnerships etc, added to this we will be very fresh, having (hopefully) the luxury to rest players.
