People always put Man Utd second behind Real Madrid but like I said before they were a nothing club for 28 years before Fergie took over |

Barcelona only had 1 European cup until 2006 but they're a really great club. I put Man Utd 3rd behind Real and AC Milan, then Barca. But in all fairness AC and Real are quite a bit ahead of Utd and Barca. |

Teams like Ajax and Bayern Munich have more european history and teams that arent that big anymore have greater history. |

Ajax and Bayern are a bit different because the majority of their trophies were secured 3 in a row when the European Cup was much, much easier to win. |

Anyway Man Utd only won the title in the last few weeks of the 02/03 season and it was more to do with Arsenal losing it rather than Man Utd winning it. |

it may well have took 26 years between titles, but even during that time united proved without a doubt that we are the biggest club in england, by the attendances we got, 26 years without a title yet filled our ground every week and even had bigger attendances of any top flight club, whilst we were in div 2, would liverpool achieve this, no, arsenal no, thats the mark of a truely great club, and now despite having one of our best side wiped out in 58, a side which looked set to dominate at home and in europe, we are on the verge of an 18th title, thats great |

Liverpool have been starved of success for a while now, so surely this should have acted as a catalyst for success in previous seasons? For many teams, dissapointment leads to more dissappointment. Examples of this could be: Newcastle, Arsenal this season, and even England. Dissappointment will not always make a team hungrier for success. I'm not saying that them bottling the title is a MAJOR reason as to why we should view their success the next year as outstanding; there are clearly other reasons why this would be the case. However, in my mind it does make it seem just that bit more impressive. Anyways, Arsenal clearly have never dominated the EPL. They may have dominated specific seasons, such as the 03-04 one, in the way that some United teams just didn't do, for example 1998-99. But the fact that they haven't done it in succession means that the team cannot claim to have been the best side in a certain period of EPL history. United for example can claim to have dominated the mid-90s and the late 00s. Arsenal can only really say that they have plugged the gaps between eras where other teams have dominated the League. |
