:hysterics:

As for Elcule who mentioned United and Barca beating Porto and Munich respectively...not the greatest examples mate.

Look at Chelsea Liverpool, two more evenly matched teams;

They've faced each other 4 times in Europe; Liverpool progressed twice when at Anfield second leg (05, 07), and Chelsea too progressed twice when at Stamford Bridge second leg (08, 09).

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

That's it then, case closed. :clown:

It's not as if there are quite literally 100 examples to disprove your theory...

Winner.

I was merely giving a half-decent example, which let's be honest it is, seeing as Chelsea > Liverpool from 05-07, and Liverpool > Chelsea in 09.

United winning at Porto means little, and Barcelona holding onto a 4-0 lead means nothing either :D

Just ignore my other two then :whistle:

Liverpool - Inter, Villareal - Panathanikos, Fenerbache - Sevilla, Arsenal - Villareal and Chelsea - Arsenal are also notable recent exceptions to your rule.

It's not a rule...

Of course there are exceptions to the rule (if it was), or the games wouldn't be played out :lol:

But I think you'll find that the home leg second is favourable, because if you play at home first, there is lots of pressure to not only win, but get the most convincing result possible. Opposed to the second leg, where you can play at home, and know your task, and that's the key for me.
