Looking at the table...; Arsenal had too many draws

I was just looking at the full Prem table http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/table/default.stm and all things considered, Arsenal's main problem has clearly been the number of draws, rather than losses...11 draws in fact are the reason we did not really contend for the Prem this season.

Why do you think that is...the main reason, or combination?

Lack of confidence? Teams parking the bus (knowing how to defend against us)? Not taking our chances? Not being able to hold onto a lead? Conceeding late soft goals? What do you think, and how will Wenger look to improve the squad in the summer so we can truly contend once more?

lol that was Luis Fabiano and someone wasnt it? :P

You havent scored enough goals at Home and you leak to many away from home.

United havent scored enough goals away from OT but since we can often hang on to a 1-0 it hasnt hit us to badly.

Yeah we have...just goes to show it's not how you win (1-0) as long as you DO win. Again Man Utd scraped a few 1-0's based on the fact you ploughed on for the full 90 mins determined to get that winning goal, whereas Arsenal looked happier to settle for a draw at some games...or been gratefull even.

You dont dominate games like utd do IMO. Well you can going forward but I think your lacking in character when the opposition decide they gona give you a game. Should be better next year.

The great thing about United is we don't draw many. March last year I said draws would cost Chelsea and I was right, and this year the same could happen to Liverpool. A draw should never be settled for.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Last night, Sporting Gijon drew for the first time this season - they're in the relegation zone. :greatpost:

Draws can be useful.

Winner.

Here's was fucked us over:

1) Too many young players in their first proper season in the prem starting loads of games early on in the season, hence us losing 5 of our first 14.

2) Mid season injuries to Cesc, Walcott, Ade etc leaving us toothless in attack, leading to loads of 0-0's.

We're now top of the form guide, unbeaten in 21, and looking pretty damn tough. The experience that players like Song, Denilson, Walcott etc. have picked up this season will be invaluable for next campaign when they should hit the ground running.
