Winner.

I don't think you can watch his interviews and assume his IQ is not as claimed. IQ tests contain a lot of logic and that is never going to be on show during a footballing interview. However, you can gauge from his interviews that he is a switched-on human being, as well as his conduct on a football pitch for years.

Yes he went to a private school but I don't see how that can be held against him. Are you saying that high GCSE results including an A* in Latin at a private school in 1995 is nothing special? :deepthought:

On the basis of the above, I don't see how you can categorically rubbish his IQ.
With total ease. Because, as I've said, the people I've known and do know with an IQ that high are obviously more intelligent than him, it bleeds through. Also regarding his high marks at school thats no clear indication at all of how clever he is because pupils at private schools are taught how to pass marks, everyone I know who's gone to private school has said that you pay for your marks not a superior education- its totally superficial. I'm not rubbishing his IQ I'm just saying that your being totally naieve by buying into all these measures of his genuis level IQ because he is clearly not a genuis and thats evident when you see him interviewed, a man as self satisfied as Lampard would do bloody well to hide a genuis level IQ. I ask you this, is Lampard as clever as Wenger?

I don't think you realise what consistitutes a high IQ. A lot of common sense and logic is involved. If you saw me interviewed you'd probably think I was pretty thick, as watching me get interviewed would give no indication to the obvious genius I am.

Making assumptions on his interviews, even though they demonstrate high intelligence and competence, is naive IMO.

I don't really understand the comparisons to your college lecturers either. Knowledge and IQ are totally different things.

Your question concerning Arsene Wenger...no idea. I'm a big fan of Wenger but he has his flaws.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

What I'm saying is that when you've been well educated, as people such as Wenger and Lampard have, then hiding an IQ as high as you believe Lampard to have would be impossible. If you were interviewed it would be an enitirely different matter as Lampard has spent the best part of 10 years in front of a camera and is obviously totally at ease with being interviewed. Whereas you may not be. Personally I don't think its naieve to make that assumption because IQ isn't about the marks you achieved, one of the 3 people of whom I'm certain have an IQ in the 0.01 % of the population achieved terrible marks at school. Marks are meaningless. Knowledge and IQ are different but they are linked. As I've said, I don't doubt that he's a clever guy but there is absolutely no way, having seen him interviewed and listened to his PFA acceptance speech, which he no doubt wrote, that he has a genuis level IQ. No way whatsoever.

I still don't see how you can gauge one's IQ from a few interviews about football. I'll admit that you can make assumptions with regards to pundits, because a lot of the time they make mistakes that a bit of common sense would rectify, which indicates an average IQ. However, Lampard as far as I'm aware makes no mistakes in interviews so there is nothing to disect. We may as well agree to disagree.

PS. Where is this PFA acceptance speech? Are you talking about the PFA Writers' footballer of the Year 2005 award, which was well deserved I might add.

Yeah, and yes it was totally deserved. I just see no evidence what so ever to believe that he has an IQ that high because as I've said already he betrays no signs of having such a lofty IQ. He's clearly not stupid but you listen to Wenger being interviwed and its obvious that he's clever, Lampard appears composed but a genuis, absolutely not.

As I've said already. He's obviously no fool but there is no way on earth that he is a genius.

You are a genius in your own right, but I'm looking forward to 7's answer.

Not that I've seen. Having a genuis level IQ is a phenomenal thing so its no shame for Lampard not to be one and simply to have an above average IQ. Come to think of it I wouldn't necessarliy be confident in saying 100% that the 3 people I've mentioned as examples of having high IQ's would have a genius level IQ, but 100% I can guarantee that they are smarter than Lampard.
