Van Der Sar might have been voted GK of the season in the PFA team but for me that is not a true reflection on his goalkeeping. He only got into the PFA team because of his defence basically and when United went all those games without conceading a goal I think he only had to make half a dozen saves but incredibly he was the one getting all the credit. :greatpost: He had absolutely nothing to save or do against Arsenal but on a free kick he flapped at it missed the ball and smashed into his own team mate  that has been a big part of Edwins game this season. Dont get me wrong I think Van Der Sar is a great GK and is a legend in my eyes but he makes too many mistakes thats why I think Almunia is a better GK at this moment in time.

VDS is a top keeper, not as good as he once was and true he does flap at a lot of crosses. I don't think there's been any goalkeeper that's really shone this season and I think the main reason VDS got voted into the PFA team was mainly due to the records he broke.

Almunia has gone about his business very well this season and has been solid even though in contrast to VDS, he has a less convincing defence in front of him.

Catching crosses and punching them away to safety has been the main problem for Edwin this season but I don't think he will have too much of that to do against Arsenal, at least I hope not. Arsenal will as usual play some nice slick passes and they'll have to get by our defenders to really trouble him, unless he's beaten by a great long range effort which could very well happen.

Almunia has definitely been better than both VDS and Reina this season, but Given has been better than all 3.

Fantastic shout

Top 5 keepers this season (not really in order): Given, Reina, Almunia, VDS, Schwarzer

I have to agree with Homer, VDS only got it because of his defence. There have been better keepers in the bottom half who have been brilliant but because they don't have a good defence they leak more goals.
