Anyway Arsenals invincibles were better than any United side in recent years its just that this side did not win enough trophies but that should not take away what a great side that team were.

He was top notch once again. I did tend to get distracted from his performance for two reasons though: Henry stole the limelight, and sometimes I couldn't work out if it was Xavi or Iniesta on the ball due to their similar heights and styles of play. When they both faced the way of the camera though, the answer literally shone through...

If Man Utd went unbeaten a whole season and played amazing football all season this would be a 20 page wankfest from the United fans...
What is this bullshit about the quality of football being a predicate of a successful season? The quality of football is merely a means to an end. Chelsea's season where they broke the Premiership points record was equally successful as Arsenal's season in my view despite playing an ugly brand of football characterised by bullies like Terry and Essien.
mate I don't mean to be a bastard, but I will seeing as you've picked up on my spelling mistakes in the past... Essien signed for Chelsea in August 05... so I don't THINK he was one of those 'bullies' helping Chelsea to the biggest points total ever

Man Utds treble season was the greatest in terms of the trophies they won but they had a lot of luck that season

FA Cup- Had Bergknamp scored that pen in the 90th minute United would have gone out and may have won nothing

CL- They were destroyed by Bayern all game but scored 2 goals in the 90th mins

Premierleague- Won it on last day of the season by a point after Tottenham decided they dont want Arsenal to win the league

Arsenal had similar levels of luck mate; Van Nisterooy's penalty being saved when he game ended 0-0 shows that.

Winning the Prem on the last day of the season doesn't constitute luck. Last season we did the same, yet I doubt you'd call us lucky...

If Barcelona win the treble they will be the greatest side ever and I can see people talking about this side in 50 years time.
What about your unbeaten season? RVN penalty miss at old trafford in the last minute, Pires' bungee jump against pompey. Uniteds greatest strength was that they never knew when they were beaten, anyway bergkamps penalty miss wouldn't have mattered had united not had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside in the 1st game

I agree with you about barca tho

The first game? How's that relevant?

It would have made a massive difference, simply because you would have lost a game. I'm not going to gointo psychological shit and say that 'one loss leads to another' and so maybe would not ahvewon the title, but the point is, you wouldn't have had the unbeaten record to wax lyrical about.

Every team has a bit of luck but your team had huge amounts of luck and you cant deny it. You did not play the football Barcelona play and your stats are nowhere near what their stats are.

:hysterics:

By the same token Bayern's late collapse was "their own fault you clown".

Winner.

'Type of football' is the most tangential piece of bollocks anyone could introduce into assessing this debate.

But yes, were very lucky in the 1999 season so I'll give you that.

And how did Man Utd win the treble?

They got to the final of the cup competitions. Something you didn't do.

The word you're looking for is "manner", not "how".

You know what disapointments me is that Arsenal won the league by playing brilliant offensive football and having tons of flair players but at the end of the day you can have Man Utd playing piss poor and just being average but it will still count the same I just find it hard to accept.
