Mikael Silvestre and Eduardo have been ruled out of Arsenal's Premier League clash with Portsmouth on Saturday and could miss Tuesday's tie with Manchester United.

Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the Gunners will be without both defender Silvestre and forward Eduardo for the trip to Fratton Park with groin injuries.

The pair both picked up problems in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to United in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and could be doubts for the return leg at the Emirates next week.

"For the weekend we have lost Eduardo certainly," Wenger confirmed.

"He has done his groin again unfortunately. Rio Ferdinand fell on him when he had that accident. His knee went on his groin and that detached some fibres. Silvestre has a groin (injury) as well.

"We have not scanned them yet, so we don't know about Tuesday, but they both miss Saturday for sure."

Eduardo is out for 3 weeks
Clichy is out for at least 2 weeks
Van Persie looks really doubtful for Tuesday
The other injuries remain the same

He won't he'll put Bendtner on ahead of Vela as he always does.

Wish Vela had more games this season...his cup performances were showing similar affectiveness as Eduardo last season, but the few times he's come on as a sub in the prem/CL he's not looked sharp enough...warming the bench more often than not.

A waste of a good talent imo...but hey we are in real trouble on Tuesday now...gutted!

If I was Arsene I would play Vela up front with Theo on Tuesday, with Eboue and Nasri wide.
I am soft.

Wish u were Arsene for a day then!

Reckon the pace of those 2 through the middle (if they were to gel) would be awesome. Remember Yorke and Cole for Man Poo...arguably their greatest pairing up front since the Prem started...both had pace, an understanding, neither were tall and rangey (5'9" and 5'10" respectively), but both were so effective.

If RVP is out then sheep it, just go for Bendtner & Adebayor. Walcott & Vela would just get completely bullied up front

United's defence would sit deep, back off and not allow Vela and Walcott to ever get in behind. Rio and Vidic are far too good to let two short pacemen get the better of them like that. You need a balance up front, a target man who makes the defence scared of dropping too deep, and a pace man to stop the defence from pushing too high. Ade and Walcott I want.
