He has not improved Inter Milan it doesn't seem. They look set to retain the Scudetto, but they crashed out of Europe early, and have tonight crashed out of the Coppa Italia 3-1 on aggrigate to Sampdoria.

It certainly seems he can't reproduce his Chelsea magic, and that aura of invincibility about him seems to have faded. Will he ever be as successful as he was as Chelsea? Where do you see him going next?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Internazionale are just bottlers, they've been like that for years and I never really thought Jose would make too much of a difference. He will probably leave this Summer but he'll definitely be gone by 2011.

I can see him coming back to the PL next, he wants to work in Spain apparently but I don't think that'll be his next stop. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say is next job will be......Chelsea!

I don't think he will stay at Inter for too much longer. I hope United get hold of him and cash in on the good relationship him and fergie have. He's still a great manager, and Inter are still doing well in the League (which was always Mourinho's strengtht at Chelsea anyway) despite the exit from the Champs League. In all honesty, I don't think it's fair to judge him on the CL performance, mainly because they were playing the Champions and the second best side in the world.

Fact is, he was never going to be as successful as Inter Milan manager as he was at Chelsea. For a start, he was given a phenomenal team at Chelsea, and far more money at the outset of his first season than Moratti will ever give him. Coming off the back of his triumph in the European Cup with Porto, his ex-players' loyalty was enough to convince many of them to come to Stamford Bridge and, as such he was able to assemble a side that was unbreachably solid.

Upon this defence was built two successive titles, though he never made it past the semi finals of the Champions League. You must also remember, well in fact i guarentee you will lol, that United pipped them to the 06/07 title, so you could argue that Mourinho lost his "aura of invincibility" then.

So since arriving at Inter, he hasn't really fared much worse imo - people were kidding themselves if they thought that the Mourinho factor alone was going to win Inter the Champions League: no manager could have done so with such a side.

True, his signings have been pretty poor since arriving. Sulley Muntari hasn't quite become the Essien-like figure Mourinho envisaged, Mancini has been benched for the majority of the games and Ricardo Quaresma has possibly been the biggest flop of the millenium. However, his signings were hit and miss at Chelsea as well, Ferreira never really settled, remember Tiago? Assier Del Horno? Shevchenko :bait: ?

Mourinho has still formed a side that is capable of grinding out results in a Chelsea-esque manner and consequently they sit (i think) 10pts clear in the league - in the process maintaining his own personal unbeaten home league record which he has held since his days at Porto.

So no, i wouldn't say he's been a failure at all, and anyone who says he is had their original expectations set far too high imo. Moratti brought him in to build on last season's success and he hasn't really - apart from making the league title more of a procession this time around - but i don't think the Coppa Italia is given any great prestige in Italy and they did get knocked out in the CL by the reigning champions.

Go easy on the bloke, that's all i'm saying. :)

SAW MOST OF THIS GAME TONIGHT CASSANO WAS ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY WORLD CLASS YET AGAIN, BOTH LEGS HE WAS A MAGICIAN HE IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT. THIS KID IS UNBELIEVEABLE...

Ibrahimovic was also world class tonight and capped off an almighty performance with a goal but it wasn't enough and he was one of very few who didn't deserve to get knocked out.

As for Mourinho, it was bad luck that they drew the strongest team in the competition in the CL, and had they drew another side they could have won that and started to scrap the small club mentality that they hold in Europe. Mourinho will get it right in time, but remember he didn't win the CL with Chelsea either, he brings consistency and method which isn't always what you need in a demanding CL tie.

Having said that Mourinho was unlucky to draw United in the CL, he did bring it upon himself by finishing second to Panathanikos in the Group Stage...

Ibra's goal was unbelievably good tonight btw.

Just outstanding yet again, the kid is unstoppable at the moment and playing with such confidence, you could see it flowing from him tonight. The Inter backline couldn't touch him, he was unlucky not to score but Julio Cesar again played very well.

Did you see the goal on a stream or highlights? The cameraman missed the goal on the feed I was watching, showing a replay at the time.

I fucking hate that. Almost everygame has moments where the camera is on the crowd/replay and not the action. Everyone missed Ade's magical goal live because of that.
