Arsenal's Season

Wenger's experiment with youth this season has left us well out of the title race, out of the FA Cup, out of the Carling Cup with progression to the Champions League final looking increasingly unlikely after that defensive performance...Question for all Arsenal fans and indeed everyone else is;

Was it worth throwing away all these things this season to find out that only Alex Song was any good? (Im leaving people like Vela out here as he has hardly featured and was never anywhere near the first team, same goes for Ramsey)

I cant say anything more about Bendtner...from now on as far as im concerned, he doesnt exist

Denilson...."£$%^&*()_)(*&^%$£$%^&*()_)(*&^%$£$%^&*()_+)(*&^%$£$%^&*()_+_)(*&^%$%^&*()_+)(*&^%$%^&*()_)(*&^%$

That was question one, question two;

Considering how the Board always talk about the stadium debt being very well structured at a fixed interest rate with fixed payments which we can easily meet etc.... How come they always equate spending money on quality players to financial ruin?? They act as if the mooted transfer of Xabi Alonso and co in the Summer would have seen us go the way of Leeds and co. Surely if we are so well set up financially spending £18m is not going to make the club collapse???

Im soo angry right now I should probably stop there....I do acknowledge the injury situation has been rediculous and overall im still proud of my teams performance in a perverse way. Ill probably calm down and think better of the situation and this post later but right now its difficult. I love my club but I dont know how long the team will continue to wear shackles while everyone else is running free despite their own financial instability, winning silverware and not facing armageddon as we are all led to believe should be the case.

What would have happened had we not signed Arshavin? Then he sets the world alight and the first thing Wenger has to say is "Dont expect any more signings like that".... Way to kill any hope for the future.

Wenger himself admitted he made mistakes earlier in the season and yes it was very damaging testing and trying young players to see if they are any good but I always say a young player is like a melon because it might look good on the outside but unless you try it you just dont know how good it tastes.

Time will tell as to whether or not it's worth it, as if he can't keep the core structure of the squad with key players wanting to leave, then he will have to start again and it would be considered a calamity.

I really didn't think Touré played that badly tonight, Silvestre and Gibbs gave him no help at all and Touré has never been that good in the air. He had to deal with the best striker in the league and marshalled him quite well, it was just whenever Torres got near Silvestre that things started to go wrong. Touré's performances in general have stepped up a notch recently.

You definitely need a new centre half to partner him and sell Gallas who is far too injury prone, but other than that, providing there isn't a massive injury crisis, this Arsenal side can really do some damage next season. Alex Song is proving to everyone that he should be played in CM and will prove a good option if Wenger feels Denilson might be outmuscled in big games, and Cesc should be playing CM all the time, not AM - ever.

It's not all that doom and gloom for Arsenal, you just have to accept that you've been horrendously unlucky with injuries.

Elcule...the reasoning and mature side of my brain says you are completely right about injuries. They have done more damage to us than anything else...but nights like this just highlight how good we can be and how bad we are..all in 90 minutes!......

Bollocks. Toure was a joke. Far too reactionary, not proactive enough. And playing that sort of game against top striker will only get you in trouble. Gallas is far better than Kolo, but he is off in the summer.

Chiellini and Lescott in Arsene. One is world class, the other is strong and English, something we need.

It'll be a different word next month :cheers:

I have started to use the word 'despite' a little often if you hadn't noticed.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Touré was by far your best defender tonight and Wenger is not going to go for a wholesale overhaul of the defence. Like you said, Gallas will go and therefore Touré will maintain his place. Also, you have to admit that in general his performances have been of a high standard recently.

I'm just trying to be realisitic mate, you're dreaming of some sort of utopia if you think you'll get Chiellini.
