What is the biggest fortress in the Premiership, and what is the biggest fortress in the world? It's obviously between United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in England, as all four grounds are fortresses it seems. This contest would've been a formality for Chelsea 8 months ago, but in a complete reversal of fortunes, I'd probably have Stamford Bridge behind Old Trafford, The Emirates and Anfield. If we're talking about a European scale, then the Nou Camp would have to be thrown in, though Barcelona tend to win their home games because they're so many notches above opposition. I don't think this subject is clear-cut at all, so should inspire some serious debate

I think OT is just about the biggest fortress in the PL. Usually OT isn't a real fortress or at least it hadn't been for years but ATM even after we got well beaten by Liverpool it has to be at least 2nd best. Apart from the 1st and 13th fixtures in this and last season we have won every single game at OT in the league. The two games we lost were probably the worst to lose to, Liverpool and City! The two draws were opening day games so maybe we lacked that little something early on but every other team has come and fallen at our fortress. Arsenal's Emirates has to be 2nd IMO. Am I right in saying they have still to date, only lost 2 games there? (WHU and Hull) That's very very impressive and going there is a huge test for any team. The only reason I'd place them below Utd is because we win a high percentage of our game at home while Arsenal in the last couple of years would have had plenty more draws than we had. They are though, incredible at home. You can see them getting back to what it was like at Highbury. SB is no longer the fortress it was but it's still a tough place to go to I'd imagine. I'd put it slightly ahead of Anfield because of the team that it's home to. Anfield however is not really a fortress YET. In Europe it always is but in the PL, not really. If they continue to get better as they clearly are, I can see it becoming an even bigger test for travelling teams. OT Emirates ------- SB Anfield |

San Siro has got to be one of the biggest European fortresses whenever it's AC Milan entertaining. |

Liverpool always have silly draws at home. It's amazing on a European night but so often in a PL game, that amazing support turns into a lot of nervous energy and it actually works against Liverpool having to please that crowd! Liverpool are looking much better this season though and they're on the right track to making it a domestic fortress but it's not yet at the level of OT and Emirates IMHO. It's very close between Anfield and SB but I'm going to consider how untouchable Chelsea WERE at home and put them ahead, but only just. |

Old Trafford is the biggest fortress in the league this season due to their solid defence and as soon as they go a goal up they know how to close the game out just like Chelsea used to always do. The only way teams stop Arsenal is by putting 10 men behind the ball because they know that if they play open Arsenal will crush them. SB is not the fortress it once was but still really tough mind Liverpool have drawn a few silly games but overall they are so good at home. |

No that wasnt in order lol Anfield has to be 1st or 2nd imo 2nd probably sounds about right considering how well United have done at OT this season. |

Chelsea's home record speaks for itself, but I think Anfield is comfortably the bigger fortress now. Chelsea have lost to Liverpool, Arsenal and Burnley at home this season, and almost lost to Liverpool again, were minutes away from losing to Stoke etc. Anfield has more of an air of invincibility about it, despite Chelsea's terrific 3-1 win there 2 weeks ago. |

liverpool have just lost 1-3 at home to chelsea in europe, and not that long ago lost to benfica, old t is far more a fortress in europe than anfield, i think weve been beaten 3-4 times at home during our history in europe, and never by more than a goal |
