They lost at Goodison whilst you've been given byes in the FA Cup, never mind that. You're not through to the semis yet and haven't had to face Madrid and Chelsea anyway. Their league position outlines their superiority I'm afraid. I don't think you can argue that right now they are the better side. They've improved significantly.
You can make a case for saying Madrid, when they played Liverpool, were only marginally better than Roma.

The League position only underlines their superiority in terms of this season's conditions. Arsenal have got a magnificent squad which has been hampered by injuries the whole way through. Liverpool have had Torres injured, and while he is their best player, he isn't their most important player. With injuries to Fabregas, Rosicky and Walcott, Arsenal haven't had access to the same quality week in week out. Right now when some of these injured players are coming back - the most significant one being Fabregas - they are starting to play well, and as triggle said, they've matched Liverpool for points.

Let's not forget that Liverpool are a team that have lost to Middlesborough, drawn to City (at home), Wigan, Everton, Stoke, Hull and West Ham. They haven't been that majestic this season, and I think that if Arsenal had kept their most important players fit for sustained periods, they would be right up there as they were last season.

Injuries and lack of bite really cost Arsenal but as Arnie would say" I'll be back"

The league is the bread and butter, and if teams can be clearly separate in the PL table, then that's how they should be judged.
So when Tottenham were bottom of the League, that's how they should be judged?

Tottenham were bottom or near the bottom up until Redknapp joined. So it's a bit more than 5 games. But yh i take your point.

When Fabregas was fit, Arsenal were dropping points left right and centre. Arsenal have had a fully fit back five for almost the entire season, and Rosicky isn't that big a loss seeing as he's been out for absolutely ages, and Arsenal had time to compensate his loss, which they did in buying Nasri.

Torres is a massive loss because his replacements are awful, and yet Liverpool coped admirably in his (long) absense.

There's no point playing the injury get out of jail card, because Arsenal until recently simply have not been good enough, and it's all speculative as for the impact they could have made.

If we compare CL performance; Arsenal finished second in their group, Liverpool first, Arsenal scraped through, and I mean scraped, in Rome, whilst Liverpool thrashed Real Madrid 5-0.

You can't make excuses; Liverpool right now are the better team and are a team that teams should fear.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Judging a team after 32 games is a tad more useful than judging a team after 5 games.

It isnt just all these injuries it is also the William Gallas saga when he was ripped off his captaincy and you wouldnt see that at any other big club so it has been an unsettling season so much so that alot of fans were calling for Wengers head but amazingly Arsenal are still in the CL and the Fa Cup and are now 18 games unbeaten in the league and personally I dont think anyone has given us the credit that the club deserves because it is an incredible turn around.

Torres is a massive loss, but we all know Gerrard is far more important for the functioning of Liverpool. Fabregas is the equivalent of Gerrard for Arsenal, and he's been out for ages this season. Nasri, like much of Arsenal's squad, is young and inexperienced. Rosicky, by contrast, is in the peak of his career and was world class before injury. You cannot brush aside the impact of losing a world class player by saying it doesn't matter because he's been out for ages.

I agree, Liverpool have been far better in the Champions League, although that may not be a reflection of the team's ability as I think Benitez is simply a very gifted CL coach and Wenger quite clearly is not. I shouldn't have used the CL to justify Arsenal being better, it quite clearly shows the opposite.

Fear is based on form, and I would argue that Liverpool are currently one of the top 2-3 form teams in Europe at the moment. But clearly, a team's ability is not based on form. All good teams have untouchable patches. Arsenal's one hasn't come yet, but with the recent returns from injury, it may just be around the corner.

Well said Homer. If Liverpool had gone through what we've gone through this season with injuries, stick from the press, captain issues etc. they'd be nowhere near where they are now. Probably below Villa and Everton if we're honest.

Liverpool better in the CL? Bollox. They squeezed by Standard Liege undeservedly to make the group stages. And now they're out because they got whooped at home by Chelsea.

Not sure about that. Liverpool thumped everyone they've played (apart from last night and last wed) since the 4-1 v united. That kind of form is only paralleled by Barca.

Also, if you dont mean form when you say better than us at the moment but not overall, what dyou mean?
