With only the Premier League to play for now, will CL elimination help them, or hinder them in their fight for the title? United will be playing two games a week, whilst Liverpool remain fresh...are there positives to take from suffering at the hands of Chelsea, who also believe they're still in contention for the title? Also, if Liverpool do not win the Prem, it'll be a 3rd successive season without silverware; is this good enough for a team like Liverpool, despite making incredible progress this season? Discuss

I would love to say that last night weakened Liverpool's winning mentality, and so made them less of a threat. But the way in which they were defeated, ie never giving up etc, suggests it's more likely that their mentality will actually be strengthened, so I think they're more of a threat now.

The reaction last week when they got beat to Chelsea was fantastic by beating Blackburn comftbaly 4-0 without there main man too. Last nights performance was better and I think they should be proud with it also without Steven Gerrard for that match. I dont think in any way it will affect Liverpool. They now have time to prepare for a big game against Arsenal and thats all Benitez will have his mind on. |

I think Rollingstone is right. Defeat or progress for Liverpool or Chelsea could have resulted in different reactions and as Rollingstone says the manner in which Liverpool lost last night will only spur them on to really push for the title knowing they can beat just about anyone and put on solid performances at any ground. If we go through tonight, we will be in the latter stages of every competition and with us pushing for all that, Liverpool could have an edge on us in regards to the league but if either ourselves our Liverpool can gather some momentum and win a few games in a row, it could decide where the title goes. Liverpool really have to try and win every game from here on in, if they drop some points and we win and get the other game in hand out of the way with a win of course, then with the amount of games left it'll look a nearly impossible task for them. Do Liverpool play Arsenal this weekend? |

Liverpool have been in good form and everyone seems to be going on like they're the best team in the world. I have no doubt that Arsenal can go there and make them dizzy with their great football and let's be honest, they nearly always do. Of course Arsenal will need to show some fight or they'll get rolled over but an on-form Arsenal team is just what Liverpool don't need right now. I hope Arsenal win, even draw. Wenger's words to the team will be something like "Liverpool are in great form, maybe the best, go out there and show them we are the better team and we've got more quality" Sometimes when Arsenal get going and get belief in their systems, they are very very difficult to contain, even for a well drilled side like Liverpool. Arsenal need and early goal. |

Arsenal will try, but will be exhausted compare dto Liverpool from playing Villarreal and then Chelsea at the weekend. Very hard at this stage to predict what kind of team Wenger will select because it all depends on what happens tonight and Saturday. |

When all's said and done, Liverpool are comfortably a better side than Arsenal, for the first time in many many years. Let's hope Liverpool have an off-day. |

Correct me here if I'm wrong Trig but are you saying Arsenal play Villareal tonight, Chelsea at the weekend and then Liverpool on Tuesday? |

I didn't realise those games were right on the horizon and didn't expect them to be so close together. Tough run of games for Arsenal, I hope you can get a draw in both PL fixtures. |

Chelsea is the FA Cup game you plonker. Saturday 5:15, semi-final, Wembley, another chance to see Frank Lampard in action, you know? Tough week for Arsenal but their game at Anfield is not that important for them. |
