Denilson should be nominated for young player of the year surely? It's crazy that he's not there considering how he's been the only ever present in Arsenal's central midfield and we're 4th in the league. And he's right at the top of the passing stats.

Its is illogical favouratism towards us, but sincerely I believe that there have been only 2 stand out players for me this season and neither have been spectacular all season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes the PFA need to reconsider their voting system for the Player of the Year awards.

The six men in the running for this season's honour were revealed on Tuesday, with Premier League leaders Manchester United dominating the shortlist.

Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Edwin van der Sar and last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo are all in the frame, along with Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

Wenger is disappointed to see his Gunners side overlooked, but is adamant the situation would be different if the nominees were announced at the end of the season.

"What I believe is that the PFA players of the year decisions are all made in February," the Frenchman said.

"But February is not a really important time and that means the players who are rewarded are those who played well until February.

"Now is the most important time of the season - April, May - so I believe these awards just reward the players of the first six months of the season.

Influential
"A player who has been out until January has no chance to be voted but he can still be very influential for the rest of the season.

"If they vote in May I hope some of my players would be in there because that would mean we have done well tomorrow and later."

Despite questioning the processes behind the PFA awards, Wenger insists collective glory is more important to him than individual recognition for himself or any members of his squad.

"I personally believe that the only real sign of quality is consistency," he added.

"You or I can maybe hit a golf ball as good as a professional, but to repeat it every day is different. Can you repeat it in every game? That is a sign of quality.

"I believe what is important is we are in a team sport and I'm not too interested in singling out players. I am ready to vote what is the best team at the end of the season rather than about individuals."

Wenger spot on as usual.
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Liverpool have been exellent this season. Then you look at Chelsea, and they have been sub-standard.

Which is funny, because an exellent Liverpool are having a worse season, on paper, than sub-standard Chelsea :wipeee:
i dont mind , this year is just the starrt of Liverpool Domination, they wont of had the better season on paper , looking back, in June, we will all be crowing the NEW "CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND, CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE".... LIVERPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
only team on merseyside close to winning a trophy in may mate EVERTON

up until recently, most of our players have performed well, giggs has been outstanding at times, especialy when in centre midfield, vds seems to be getting the credit for a solid defense(unitil the last few weeks), and its the PLAYERS who vote so obviously those players who play against these every week, have a close look at what players are doing that we do, no favouritism just players placing their votes, including arsenal players

Wenger is right, in that nominations should come at the end of the season. But I think he's wildly wrong in thinking any of his players deserve to be considered for the PFA player of the year awards.
