As a top 4 fan, you'd rather win the FA Cup, but in general, which competition is valued more highly? |

I would rather win the FA cup. Fantastic cup to win for English clubs. The answer to your question which is rated more highly imo is the FA cup. The UEFA cup is still a good trophy to win but second best to the Champions League. |

Depends really. Last season, i'd say the FA Cup meant more. Normally, Portsmouth winning the FA Cup would go down as the stuff of fairy-tales, but the fact that 3 Championship teams got to the Semi-Finals was nothing short of an absolute disgrace to the trophy.. Apart from last season though, i would always say FA Cup |

Uefa cup. It helps your team more than winning the FA. |

As a fan of a club in both, I'd rather win the UEFA Cup. Globally recognised and will accredit you with a lot of recognition as a good side. As Pompey showed last season, all you need is some luck and a good run of opponents and you can win the FA Cup... |

You would much rather win the FA Cup though right? PS. They are about as hard as each other to win... Edited by Scholes, Apr 14 2009, 12:04 AM.

I still think it has to be the FA cup. I think you can apply the words of Barack Obama to the UEFA cup; 'it's like the special Olympics'. Even if you win it you are safe in the knowledge that the reason you had the chance to win the trophy in the first place was because you weren't good enough to get into Europe's premier competition. Rarely are there quality European teams in the tournament, and it's really more of a battle between average to good rather than exceptional sides. At least with the FA cup you are competing with the best that England has to offer, and considering the high quality of the Premiership, the best England has to offer is pretty good. Last season was a disgrace to the competition, but that shouldn't divert peoples attention from the amount of quality, competitve FA cups we've had over the last decade. This year alone one can guarentee that the Final will have on display far more talent that the UEFA cup final - even if the worst comes to the worst and we get Everton v Arsenal instead of Utd v Chelsea. Put Liverpool into the UEFA cup, and they'd certainly win it. The same cannot be said for the FA cup.... |
