What about a team that doesn't have "runners", how does space be created then?
Hahaha! Irish people use 'be' in a very weird way at times. That's what I'm talking about MANYOU
Whats weird about that :deepthought:

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship - and we will - success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once.

Irishman: How does space be created?
Englishman: How is space created?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

OMG, I literally cannot believe that people think a target man. So the Invincibles raped teams up ad down the country because of Henry holding the ball up right? Chelsea played brilliant, flowing attacking football with Drogba right???
1) The invicibles played (almost) exclusively on the break, they became known for their counter attacking football. Now when you counter attack with pace, normally the gaps in defences are ready made leaving people like Henry free to run into them and wreak havoc. However, like i said originally, when facing a team that sits deep, there aren't as many gaps and this pace becomes unless. Witness what happened when sides began to sit back against Arsenal in 06-07, you just played it around in front of them - hence Henry's leaving and Adebayor's taking up of the full time role as main striker worked really well last season, as it offered Arsenal a new approach.

2) Who cares whether Chelsea's football was flowing or not, that's completely irrelevant, we're not assembling teams for a beauty contest...

Not in England

But don't worry, you're not alone, MANYOU another poster here does it too, so it must be an Irish thing.

1. BOLLOCKS. Arsenal during the invincibles era played a lot of incisive stuff near the box as well. Pires, Ljungberg, Cole, and Henry were fucking brilliant off the ball, and we had a creative hub in Bergkamp to feed them. Your point about Arsenal 06/07 is bollocks too. With Adebayor as the main striker we have been a much more static team. Last season all we saw was pass, pass, pass, lose the ball, win it back, and recycle. The flowing football of previous seasons was gone because we didn't have the off the ball runners.

2. You argue that target men create space. I pointed out that Chelsea played shit football despite having the best target man in the world.

Thanks for making my points for me

Maybe you did play some incisive stuff, but against the big teams - those with good defences, i think you'll find it was mainly counter.

My point about 06/07 is bollocks is it? So, you did the double over United, and held Chelsea to (i think) two draws and absolutely dicked on Liverpool at the Emirates (co-incidentally the teams that are more likely to attack against you), but somehow ended up failing to get points against teams like Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan - in other words those who defended deep. Yeah ... 'bollocks'.

And the Chelsea point, just because a team's ethos was to protect the one goal lead that they had and to keep a clean sheet does not entail that target men are unless.

Enjoy your cut...

Before I get my cut, let me just say more BOLLOCKS by you. Against big teams there is always more space anyway! We drew to the teams you said because all we did was pass, pass, pass with no movement!!! When we were in our romp we destroyed teams with brilliant movement down the wings and from Henry.

Exactly, hence you did better against them.

Or it might just be that, like i said, the other teams wised up and knew that sitting deeper would stifle a lot of your movement.
