I'm not a fan of one pace merchant and one reader of the game to be honest. Two readers of the game is what you should be looking for ideally.
Vidic isn't quick, but his partnership with Ferdinand speaks for itself. My defence has all areas covered. On the deck, in the air, positionally, reading of the game, when combined these two defenders tick all the boxes. Ideally I'd have liked to have Nesta and Maldini at CB but it just wasn't going to happen ya know. In hindsight I might have tried to pick Nesta, Maldini, Cafu and Carlos as my first four picks and then got the strikers like Crespo that were left nearer the end.

I can still think of 4 midfielders that haven't been picked yet that rape most midfields in this game...

what do you guys think of my team lol?
Very, good, of course with the Italian influence. I love the defense a forwards. Not sure about the CM though, I never rated Ze Roberto that highly. Good team none the less. Depends on who you draw if you go through. A team with a great midfield would probably beat you, but if you play a team with a similar midfield you would probably win because of your forwards and brilliant defense.

So, it depends on who you play and how you argue it really, but its a nice team

Hyypia shouldn't be taking this kind of flak, he is a top, top defender. I liked him a lot and I've never liked Liverpool. So dominant aerially, with a pace merchant by his side they make a great CB pairing.

I am extremely jealous over Kem's defence though. On the whole I like your team a lot but there may be one too many modern players in there.

Winner.

If you pick mine I can salvage the team by moving Gerrard to RW and taking a top class CM.

I have a world class CM I'd love to share with people but most people have CM's sorted.

I wouldn't play Gerrard RW, it just looks amatuerish playing him out of position. There are plenty of RW's still available.

He played RW and scored 20 plus goals. Not an ideal solution, but would be my only choice as I only have one RW in mind of the requisite quality.

I'm not using a diamond formation, but I can't show you how I'm gonna do it on a text box like this. It's a 4-3-1-2 system. Bollocks to having no width, I've especially picked Cafu and Lahm for that, they'll be providing width and when they're forward Redondo and Simeone will cover. It's not only a mastermind in player selection, but the tactics are spot on too.

Aldair was fast as funk cule, and Hyypia was a top class reader of the game and aerial winner. That defence is the equivalent of Ferdinand and Vidic, Ferdinand being Aldair, Hyypia to Vidic.

Cull, if you think that's not creative go find a few vids of Albertini and Hagi!!!!
Yeah I wasnt ignoring Hagi loll I just think its a little narrow

The greatest RB of all time Cafu and the incredible athletic Lahm will see to that. Plus, three men in the centre of midfield isn't gonna be narrow, and did you see what Redondo can do when he gets out wide when given the opportunity? Berg's legs needed to be stitched back together...

Have a read of this Triggle, RE Campbell vs Keown:
Sabret00the

I'm not sure you need much of a post in this regard. In football you generally have to types of centre back, the one's that play a tactical game and the ones that cover pace. The tactical guy is always the leader and the other guy fills in the blanks as and when told to. While Keown wasn't quite as adept as Adams or the likes of Terry when it comes to reading the game, he was still pretty damn good. Think of it like this. Those guys were 90+/100 at reading, then Keown is 85+/100. Then you have the likes of Campbell who for all of his physical prowess is the epitome of a modern day football. More onus on athleticism that tactical nuance and as such, he rates at around 50+/100 when it comes to reading the game. Yes he was stronger than Keown. Yes he had more recovery pace than Keown but the fact of the matter is, Keown wouldn't need to recover from 95% of the stuff that Campbell has in his career. It all comes down to how you like your football played. If you want tidy defending and the danger sniffed out before it has a chance to develop then you'll choose Keown. If you're not a top four team and you like to thrill your fans with finger biting shows of defending inadequacy which right themselves just in the nick of time, then you choose Campbell.
