Messi is easily more talented than Dinho for me. Quicker, better close control.
Youre basing talent on one aspect of the game. Not really fair. Talent is far more broad than that. Van Persie and Rooney are both highly talented, yet close ball control isn't really a factor in that.

As elcule said, Ronaldinho was more talented, Messi more effective.

Owen is a far better striker than Adebayor...better movement, better positionally...errm...hmmm.... :hysterics:

Honestly, Ronaldinho was far more 'talented' than Messi will ever be. Ronaldinho had it all.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Ummm, your right. But Owen is a crock now and doesn't have the pace.
I am soft.

Ronaldinho was far more talented too, he has more in his locker than out of this world dribbling skills.
That's my argument exactly about Ronaldo possibly being better than Messi.
Stop bringing Ronaldo into it!!!

Last season you might have had a case for Ronaldo being better, but this season no way. Also, Ronaldinho had far more to his game than Ronaldo as well.

If you want to win a football match, you take Messi over Ronaldo / Ronaldinho anyday.

Ronaldo isn't on fire in the same way Messi is, I still think he is a better footballer in terms of technical ability etc.

We shall see in the coming CL games :D

Altho, 3-2 Utd-Villa game shows Ronaldo's match winning potential....

Ronaldo is not the same player, but it's to be expected. Also, his technical ability is nothing special. Apart from a maestically good touch, and his two-footedness, his technical ability is nothing to shout about.

I allowed safc to pick, but Cockney is not yet allowed to...

Roonaldo and Triggle still need to pick.

Another Geordie from safc

Hopefully Barca won't risk Messi on Tuesday, we have a torrid run coming up and we need Leo fresh. United have a tough game in Oporto, this may be the last we see of Ronaldo in the CL this season...

Heading, shot technique, freekicks?

What do you mean by technical ability? As i thought that covers a broad range of footballing qualities e.g. Shot technique, heading, touch, passing, skills - which by the way, altho not terribly effective are exceptionally impressive (ronaldo's).

Shot technique and free-kicks are similar things...would you class heading as technical ability? Either way, his short passing leaves a lot to be desired, and his long passes is non-existent.

The thing that makes Ronaldo special is his strength and pace, and of course his movement/goal scoring. Messi pisses on him from a technical stand point.
