They need to offer 40m.

FA Cup final is the same day as the Copa Del Rey final. I hope I don't have to miss Arsenal.

I have a theory on why our offer was so low.

Moyes has just left Everton. Therefore he'll have a great understanding of the clubs finances - what the transfer and wage budgets are. He may have seen Kone, Alcaraz and others move to Everton and thought they were spending a bit too beyond their means for this window (they do always tend to attempt to break even).

It sounds to me as if the club has been planning in case someone met the Fellaini clause. Moyes must have had some idea of the potential replacements and how much they would cost. United have held an interest in Baines for the best part of a year now so the same could be said for him.

Moyes knows the situation at Everton better than any other manager so probably put a package together which he thought to be acceptable.

I'm not saying this is correct. But there must be some other reasoning than 'oh Moyes is a wanker' behind the numbers involved.

Reading too much into it. It was an opening bid, for Fellaini anyways, and we are clearly willing to negotiate a higher fee. Everton know this and are either trying to put public pressure on us through our disgruntled fans or they would rather keep than sell making their decision to go public a massive "fuck off".

I think the general lack of faith shown in David Moyes since his appointment is absolutely disgusting. So much criticism that is totally unwarranted.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Other than the hypocrite stuff phil posted Moyes hasn't been unfairly treated.

Everything's being laid on his doorstep it seems. The fact that we haven't signed anyone yet, particularly a world class midfielder, and some dour pre-season friendly performances, amongst other things, are being used to show Moyes is out of his depth and doesn't know what he's at. But that midfielder issue has been raging on ever since Keane left and it only intensified when Scholes' appearances became less frequent, and Fergie didn't answer the fans' prayers. And we've had similar pre-seasons under him too, last season's wasn't good.

But we've started well and the Utd machine will roll on. So far the only sign of the Fergie effect fading is in our fans' faith in the team. Under Fergie they knew that in May we'd have probably wrapped up another title so they kept any whining to a minimum and once again marvelled over the team's winning mentality, but now that he's gone it's all being unleashed onto Moyes.

Stupid, because results are irrelevent in pre-season. If anything it was encouraging as it shows our players must have been really putting it in.

“We’ll play him further back the pitch than up the pitch,” Moyes said. “We’ve got enough people who can play the No 10 role, like Kagawa, Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Adnan Januzaj, who is coming through.”

Felt a wave a support for the lad when I saw him come on on Sat. There's something quite endearing about his style, appearance, and lack of stellar reputation that just makes me want him to succeed. Hope he can mature into a big player for us.
