Dirk Kuyt should be banned from playing and handed over to the Taliban.

Barca this season have been a joy to watch as were Arsenal last season. Pace power technique and magical football is how I love to see the game played and those 2 team epitomised that. Not every team or individual player has all or even any of these attributes but it's great such skill is on display.

I agree with KingsofLondon, i don't think any team, apart from Real Madrid, were knocked out due to Pace and Power. Juventus and Roma easily lived with it and really took the game to their opponents, being unlucky not to progress. Inter too, didnt go out to a lack of pace, merely poor defensive marking.

Overall, i think its simply the quality of the PL that helped their sides progress rather than the pace or power. Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool just had too much for their opposition.

Fitness might've played a part though...the way Liverpool pressed was unreal.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

It's a massive shame if pace really is becoming a more dominant factor in football. Football should be about beauty not graft. I'm a bit worried.
the influx of big physical and speedy black players have turned football this way(i don't mean to make this sound racist or anything) but black players tend to be more athletic than their white counterparts, who tend to be more ball players, i hope this is coming over the way i meant it to

I would agree to an extent with you Diego, i think an increase of Black Players has added to the physical nature of the league, however, just look at United and Liverpool's sides, i think only Evra (and reserves such as Anderson and Babel) were the only black players playing in these games, so i really don't think race is too much of an issue.

i was thinking more along the lines, of essien, vieira, adebayor, sagna, cliche, obi mikel, drogba, anelka, as opposed to fabregas, lampard, scholes, alonso etc

That's come over fine mate. I share similar views and observations with regards to composure but I try not to mention it or I get into trouble.

I dunno if we're all treading a thin line here so delete this post if its wrong, but how many creative black players are there (as in vision rather than skill)?

I can name Ronaldinho.

Henry...errr....

Can you name a black player, bar Ronaldinho, that has better vision and decision making than Stephen Ireland?

No. However, i think we should stop this dicussion soonish, as i reckon it's bordering on, if not rascism, racialism.

when i was growing up, black(or coloured whichever you prefer)players were in a minority, although there were some excellent players around, laurie cunningham instantly springs to mind, he was quick but was composed, and skillful, a wonderful player who played for west brom/real madrid and for a short while man utd, but on the athletic side of things i think the first athletic black player was viv anderson, who started with forest before playing for arsenal and united and of course england.

on the other side of the coin there are now a lot of big white athletes too, just look at vidic as a great example

Black players perform better at world cups...

The heat is almost unbearable for England...as Glenn Hoddle was saying last night, you have to adapt your gameplan in that heat...pressing opponents is a bad idea. Slightly off-topic I know
