Sorry guys, I'm glad we won on penalties last night, but to me, we will not progress past the Q/F's...why? Isn't it obvious?

We have a squad that 'as a unit' lacks so much pedigree, has no self-belief, consists of players many of which would not start as 1st choice in the other of the so-called top 4 teams.

We had a goal drought, which lifted after playing championship sides, making us able to beat anyone again? Do some of you really believe that?

Sure, we may scrape through in 4th spot come May, but alarm bells should be ringing.

I love my club, spend more on going to see them play than probably everyone here, and am disappointed with the current attitude of the squad as a whole, the board and Wenger for not boosting it in the summer while they had the chance, and seeing our great club filled with sub-standard top 4 calibre players.

Last night was one of half a dozen appalling performances this season, interlaced with many more sub-standard performances, and only a handfull of notably good performances.

I will defend my club, but right now, there is nothing TO defend, other than we have some good players coming through...the regular one-liner!!!!!

If there is no major shake-up this summer, we will continue to slide.

Get a grip people, we are in massive trouble.

We already have a quality squad. Its Wenger who sheeps up the selection, although his hands have been tied down by injury a lot.

And this SQUAD>Last seasons...

Quality players 'right now' are imo:

Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Clichy, Nasri, RvP, Eduardo, Cesc, Arshavin

Players coming up to be quality BUT NOT YET are imo:

Wilshere, Walcott, Diaby, Denilson

Player that 'could' be quality imo are:

Gibbs, Simpson, Djourou, Ramsey

That's not enough quality, depth, and experience to keep us in top flight football...or with a realistic chance in any of the 4 competitions.

Arsenal haven't performed to their best for a while now. I don't think I've seen that beautiful passing game they play all season. Arsenal have the ability to take teams apart with their passing, but it's just a matter of getting it going again.

Happy birthday...bit early for the bboze though isn't it? :hysterics:

Nah, sorry fella, we don't have the quality or consistency that come with quality and experience to compete ALL the way!

That's pretty obvious when you look at our performances this season.

our team has been a downhill slide for a while now

arshavin is showing that you get what you pay for when you buy quality, maybe its the kick wenger needs to get some top quality in

I hope so fella.

In the meantime, we also need to look at our tactics and style. I have said this before, but teams have worked out how to stop our free flowing game, and that is to hound us, and relentlessly close us down...it ruins the flow of our play and forces tighter passing and errors. We saw that against Fulham, and Sunderland, and last night...WE RELY ON OTHER TEAMS GIVING US ENOUGH SPACE!

So it's a two-fold shake-up that's required imo...in terms of players AND gameplan.

DaGunners is constantly in denial. He'd still be able to talk his way out of it if you were fighting relegation.

As for your list...Kolo Toure?
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Yeah I think Toure is still good enough...there is a bigger ? over Gallas imo...who like Adebayor can't be arsed to turn up FAR TOO OFTEN!

You rate Nasri 'right now'?

Aside from your list, I agree with your post.

Yeah I do rate Nasri, as on the whole he has contributed greatly to the team, in terms of his creativity, final pass (resulting in a fair amount of assists), some decent (winning) goals, and shooting ability outside the box.

IMO he is a class attacking midfielder.

I'm saying Toure is good...Gallas used to be, but all too often is found to be in the wrong position defensively, is too lazy to run, and has lost alot of his affectiveness. Gallas is past it.

In fact, you're right...take the pair out!
