David Beckham has been named in the England squad for next week's friendly against Spain.

Beckham will get the chance to win a record-equalling 108th cap for England - while Carlton Cole and Phil Jagielka could be awarded with their first after also receiving call-ups from manager Fabio Capello.

Beckham needs one more appearance for the Three Lions to match Bobby Moore's best mark for an outfield player and coach Capello has decided the 33-year-old's form on loan at AC Milan warrants an instant recall after he was omitted for the win over Germany in Berlin last November.

The inclusion of Cole and Jagielka comes on the back of excellent performances at club level for West Ham United and Everton respectively.

England squad to play Spain in a friendly international in Seville on Wednesday 11th February:

Goalkeepers: Green (West Ham), Hart (Man City), James (Portsmouth). Defenders: Bridge (Man City), A Cole (Chelsea), R Ferdinand (Man Utd), Jagielka (Everton), G Johnson (Portsmouth), Terry (Chelsea), Upson (West Ham), L Young (Villa). Midfielders: Beckham (LA Galaxy), Barry (Villa), Carrick (Man Utd), Downing (Middlesbrough), Lampard (Chelsea), Milner (Villa), Wright-Phillips (Man City), A Young (Villa). Forwards: Agbonlahor (Villa), C Cole (West Ham), Crouch (Portsmouth), Heskey (Villa).

Jagielka :D

No Rooney.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

It's funny how I got laughed at when claiming him to be a top player. DaG for example called him a Championship player. Obviously he doesn't have the eye for talent like I do and in the space of a month Carlton is in the England fold.

Cole is on fire at the moment and its a good way to encourage players if they know that performing well could get them in the England squad, its only a friendly so he should try other options out :)

That's why you would never be a good manager, Picking players for their reputation instead of form. Another McClaren :clown: . Cole has been in good form in the last few weeks scoring goals and creating them so why shouldn't he be in the England squad?
