do you think its right?

i think a new rule should be put in place to stop clubs just taking another clubs talent.it isnt good for the smaller clubs at all.and all these big clubs just sign these players while they are still trainee's so the parent club cant do anything to stop it.

Possibly yeh. Apart from Ajax, who would say the biggest victims are of being robbed of young potential?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Have they? Examples?

Maybe they let a lot of young talent go but I wouldn't say they're robbed of it. The decision is probably down to them as there aren't many if any more glamorous clubs than Barcelona in recent years. They are probably in full control of who they sell.

Yeh, lower league clubs suffer I suppose. A new law enforced along with a wage/transfer cap would benefit the game.

Well yes, I suppose Liverpool are adept at nicking players.

Liverpool as a city are adapted solely to nick/steal :cooldude:

How can you stop a kid who hasn't got a full-time professional contract from leaving? That would be slavery.

Woody woodpecker is just taking a subtle dig at Arsenal, when the truth is that Arsenal are a blessing to these player's careers, helping them to blossom during the years where it is easy for them to fall victim to the temptations of bitches, ho's and booze.

Manchester Utd definatly stole Davide Petrucci from Roma. He was a great prospect for them, but they wouldnt put him in the first team like he wanted, and since you dont sign a pro contract until later in Italy than you do in England Manchester Utd just came in and offered him a huge contract and his father a job with the club so he would sign with them. Roma basically gets no compensation for losing a player who has been with the club throughout his youth.

Im not saying that Utd is the only team who does this, but I just think its wrong to lure a player to your club by offering their parent a job which is pretty much to good to refuse.

In general though I think work laws need to change so that other countries can lock down their young stars at the same age when English teams can offer them pro contracts, its only fair. Also I think there should be a set price, say 1m or something compensation, that makes teams think twice about snatching away young players and at least covers the money these teams have put into developing them, because in my opinion a couple thousand isnt good enough.

what do you mean? i mean all clubs in general should have the same age you can offer a pro contract and a set compensation fee for players under a that age. I know its not going to happen but thats just opinion of what should be done.

I was referring to woodbine because he is obsessed with Arsenal. Anyway I think you make a very good point Kem and if only things were that simple.

I think as far as European laws go, the age that a youth is eligable for a pro contract needs to be the same in every country, maybe that could be complicated for other types of work but for footballers it should be the same.

If a player wants to go to another country and make a better career for himself then he should be allowed to do so, but the money in youth football needs to go more or less completely. If Davide Petrucci wanted to go to Man Utd for footballing reasons then he should've been allowed, but if he was motivated by money then it's wrong. Make the professional age the same, they should get an apprentice wage and they should not be allowed to have an agent.

That's just the youth side of things though and aswell I think UEFA/FIFA need to get rid of the transfer window and not allow players to leave halfway through any year of their contract.

As far as I know a player can leave his club at any time during the contract and providing he didn't ask for a transfer request he gets the wages he was due. Now I think that's just the most ridiculous thing ever, if a player doesn't have to give the service his contract suggests he will give then why do the clubs need to pay up?!

There's a lot of loopholes that work in favour of players that need to be closed IMO.
