Carrick is the most under rated player; In England

Consistently written off as being the weak link in Man Utd's midfield, and an example of the paucity of quality in the middle of the park for MU, but he's a brilliant player. How he's not an England regular is beyond me.

Always rated him, but there's not enough balance in opinion. The way some people laud his passing ability pisses me off when he's not half the genius people make out. Then there's the other extreme, which also annoys me.

A class act that I'm delighted to have in the centre of the park. Competent at all aspects of the game; class passer, two-footed, fast, fit, good defensively and a domineering presense in the centre. Reliable player that should displace Barry in the England squad.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Decent CM. Nothing more, nothing less. Part of the worst CM pairing in the top 4...

the best way to rate carrick is, spurs were twice 5th with him in the side, when he left the dropped like a brick whilst united collected back to back titles and the champions league, coincidence i think not

Yeh nice joke Ant. We dominate every team we play which is much more than can be said for Arsenal.

Wrong mate; Spurs were fifth in his first season at United...and in that first season he was good, but nowhere near Scholes in terms of contribution. Great signing though of course.

Wasn't a joke. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have better CM pairings. Man City do when Johnson is fit.

we didnt have much of a midfield at all until carricks arrival mate, scholes had been our only real midfielder, after keane left, and we looked miles away from being champs, chelsea looked streets ahead, carrick has done a fantastic job in bridging that gap between us and chelsea and indeed overtaking them

time flys i thought carrick was at spurs during both seasons my mistake

No problem, but please note that Scholes' career looks over in 05/06 with that eye injury...he was like a new signing in 06/07 and was streets ahead of Carrick then...though as you say, he did contribute well

Chelsea have the best of them all, Essien and Lampard are the best CM pairing in the league. Arsenal's Fabregas and Nasri are better than Carrick and Anderson/Hargo/Scholes.

Yes, because Nasri plays centrally very often.

It's Essien and Mikel, and that's when Essien is fit.

Even Cesc and Denilson are better than United's first choice CM pairing. You'll see Nasri play CM more often now that Arshavin is here.
